Which ignores that Kirk Cousins played very poor, probably the worst he's ever played, to begin the season last year.

I agree he def cost us a few games early could blame it on Covid I guess, but he def played the best ive ever seen him play since the 1-5 on. Regardless we werent doing anything with our defense and that showed week 1 letting up 40+ at home. I mean if your Rick what do you do? He wants to and needs to win now, hes not going to trade Kirk unless a Matt Stafford type haul comes in, which wont happen. Regardless we know Kirk wont be playing on the Vikings at 45 million next year, so lets just enjoy the year and see what happens. In my opinion its a win win for everyone this year, we either are going to do really well and can build off it, or the wheels are coming off and this thing starts all over, no Kirk , no Zim, and probably no Rick.

If Kirk Cousins is not worth getting a Matt Stafford type haul, why is Cousins being paid so much? Matt Stafford has won nothing for the Lions outside of the regular season.

Regardless we know Kirk wont be playing on the Vikings at 45 million next year, so lets just enjoy the year and see what happens. I would never give up what the Rams did for him. 31 million isnt that crazy for a QB not on a rookie deal, I mean im sorry thats just what the QB market is nothing we can do. I think people are confused Kirk is due 31 million in 2021 with a dead cap of 41 million, which is why we cannot cut him. 2022 is when Kirk is due 45 million, which is insane and I will guarantee doesn't stay as he only has a dead cap of 10 million. Thats why I find it comical when people are asking Kirk to restructure like he was a lifelong Viking or something, not his fault what Rick Spielmen did. I wouldnt expcet Kirk to lower his 31 million hit in 2021, but if for some reason Kirk thinks playing on a 45 million contract in 2022 is okay , then I will give him the boot gladly. Either way theres no chance Kirk is playing 2022 on 45 million.

Kirks 40 some million becomes fully guaranteed on the 3rd day of the new year this year. Either something gives now or he gets that next year. 3/19/2021 it becomes locked in. The dead cap is if he is traded. I don't see nobody taken on 45 guaranteed next off season. Decision needs to be made now.

Yeah you confused bro. Go look at the contract details breakdown with notes. We all went over this when it happened. Maybe you was not around. That is what the fuss is about on March 19 we are screwed if that date passes. Kirk will refuse to come off that cash unless we extend him giving him another guaranteed deal. That's why some of us are saying send him to the highest bidder before it's to late. Right now is our only escape or it gets worse. We have a out now send him packing now or lose a lot of talent.

I don't have evidence of this just a feeling. I bet if we traded Kirk to like San Fran I bet he would work out a more team friendly deal with them. With us though he sucking the bone dry. He can play for that 45 next year he holds all the leverage. Ricky granted him that like he was Brady or something. That 45 is his or a new extension guaranteed if we don't act now. Now is the time to take the hit and next year have the cap back. That's to logic for us though, That's why I am mad. So people saying we can't pay Hunter a top 5 rusher at 26. We can pay Hunter ride out from Cousins lol. Why pay Cousins and not Hunter makes absolutely no sense. Get rid of Kirk then🤦🏾‍♂️

If we were to trade Cousins be for March 19th we'd incur 20ml cap hit. 10 for 21 and 10 for 22.
However, if he is on the the roster march 19, 2021 his salary for 2021 ($31k) and his 2022 salary ($45K) become guarenteed.

lol I mean unless he gets traded I don't see another option. I wasn't aware of the 2022 45 million cap hit becoming fully guaranteed on March 19th 2021. It was really a bonehead move to extend him after the Saints playoff win. So what are we suppose to do?

Don't leave the team Hut lol! I will be mad with you though. Yeah though they better not extend him. He will just do this again. I thought Kirk was decent, but not at the expense of our core talent. It is getting clear we might have to swallow that bullet now. I would trade him we almost have. If not I might shock the world and dare I say cut him so the bleeding can stop sooner. Like what choice do we have extend him or pay 45 are the only other paths. Ouch!

Niners trade is our best way out. Im sure they offered a 2nd, just take it. Sign Fitzpatrick for a year and draft Mac Jones. Boom we are back
