I don't see how saying, "I don't want to be on a rebuild" as code for keeping an unrestricted free agent like Adams works. There's going to be teams out there next year that are on the opposite side of the money than Green Bay. There are going to be teams that are 40, 50, 60 million good as opposed to 40 to 50 million stuck. They're going to be able to wave big bags of money at both Aaron Rodgers and Adams. "Come here and hit the pay window, Adams." It would entail Rodgers, already 38 and nearly 39 next season, agreeing to a big restructure and more incentivized money and ultimately a likely big pay cut as well as Adams agreeing to take a substantially below-rate salary, would it not? And that's one thing if they had a run in the playoffs, its another to go one-and-done.
The question is, is the window even open for this to win the Super Bowl anymore? Seems crazy to say after a team went 39-10 in the last 3 seasons, but is the window still open? Management is saying they want to keep Rodgers, but of course they've got to say that because what are they going to do, say he's a prima donna who can't get it done and tank the trade value? Especially when they saw the Stafford haul? They must be dreaming of some dynamite trade of Rodgers that could set them up pretty in a rebuild and Rodgers must be thinking of the career rejuvenation of Stafford in the Rams.
Last year I was very iffy and thought he would leave but wasn't sure. This time I'm pretty sure he's going.
It's clearly what he's saying and he's made it clear before. How to do it is management's problem not his. Can they do it? I doubt it.
