So there was an article written today on pft about deshawn Watson and the possibility of him asking for a trade. Let me say this, I live in central Texas and see a lot of Texans games. He is without a doubt a franchise qb. I have also seen him bring his team back late in games to victories. He is young. Yes he has a big contract, but for those type of qb’s we know they get paid big. Difference between him and cousins is that he can move/slide in the pocket has pocket awareness and can run if needed and will. He also doesnt have mental blocks in big games and when lights are brightest. He doesn’t have a good oline like us, yet he still very good consistently. If spielman and zimmer are going to continue to be the regime that drives this franchise then I wouldn’t be opposed to it at all trading for Watson if possible. Houston would ask for a lot, but Watson is proven and we know rick can not find a franchise/elite qb by himself so this is the way he could get one. And Houston’s rest of their roster is bad outside of a couple guys in Tunsil, fuller, and watt. Outside of those guys there is a lot of bad and a little mediocre on their roster. And reportedly Watson has told some of his teammates recently he could ask for a trade. Just something to think about.
Dude, that's a Mike Lynn-level disaster of a trade on a team desperately in need of draft picks to fix their defense.
. And what’s the ultimate goal? To be competitive for a playoff spot every year and hover around .500 every year and maybe advance past round 1 of playoffs every so many years or to actually compete for a sb? If you don’t have an elite/franchise qb (which Watson is), then your chances of winning a sb are very small compared to the teams that have those qb’s. It’s not fair but that is the way the game is designed. We don’t have a qb like that as we know and what are the chances we get a qb like that under this regime? Extremely slim to none. We already know that too. If Houston’s front office and ownership had any semblance of competence, they would have been able to put a decent roster around Watson and they would be competing for a championship annually. But they are so incompetent their roster talent is bare. One of the worst run organizations in the league. I don’t want Rick running the show any longer, but he is much better at running the show than the clowns who have been running the Texans for the last decade.
