Mike Zimmer stated, "It's a bad defense. It's the worst one I have ever had. We couldn't stop the run. We didn't cover well. We couldn't put any pressure on the quarterback. We didn't tackle. It was disappointing. It was really disappointing defensively. You have to really work hard to give up 52 points." Yet, his defensive coaches all stay?

Stephen was cut from Seattle because he wasn't good enough to start for them. Odenigbo was cut from 3 different teams because he wasn't good enough to make their roster. Wonnum was a 4th rounder for a reason, and Johnson is just terrible.

The sad thing is that this IS these guys getting coached up to their maximum potential this past season.

But don't worry, a guy who struggled to stay in shape with a little over half a year off in Pierce is going to come into camp with a year and a half off ready to take this line to the next level.

I think Pierce will be fine as a strong run stuffer, but what if he gets hurt like he did in 2019? What if Hunter pulls a hammy and misses a month? Bad news is the DT class isn't great and the good ones will come off the board in round 2.

First pick will probably be a DE,that's where the value will be.

Zimmer has been embarrassed this season,admitting he underestimated the lack of talent defensively,so I expect this draft to be defense heavy early.

That said,if they completely ignore the IOL,with the schedule we have it won't be pretty.We have 9 of the top 20 IDL on our schedule and 12 of the top 20 DEs,including the top 5 guys.

Great stat. If I were to guess, I'd say Ifeadi Odenigbo has talent, but despite him being doubled teamed a lot the entire D as a whole sucked. That pretty much sums it up for me.

It is, although DEs aren't doubled that often, even the elite ones.

Look at Yannick over there on the left. Never doubled, and also doesn't win on his pass rush very often.

Looks like JJ Watt was held back by being surrounded by a bad team and still has it.

That is a surprise, but according to the chart he has an above average win rate, even higher than Khalil Mack and barely below Demarcus Lawrence. That's some good company to be in.

Even though Odenigbo didn't have great year getting increased snaps at DE, he also didn't have Hunter on the other side which is why he didn't provide much pressure. Odenigbo pretty much wins primarily with power vs arm/swim/bend movements - he tries to bull-rush the OT back into the pocket and that doesn't work in double-teams very often.

I do think it's very possible the Vikes sign Odenigbo to a tender - either a 2nd Rd or original-round tender - to keep him in purple in 2021 and let him be a "bridge" to Wonnum and a 2021 rookie. With Hunter back, Odenigbo gets more 1-on-1 chances and can hold down the fort while Wonnum's snaps increase and a 2021 DE rookie (probably early Rd rookie) gets some rotational snaps.

The 2021 DE roster could theoretically consist of Hunter, Odenigbo, Wonnum, 2021 rookie, Mata'afa, Holmes, Willekes, Brailford...if we keep 5, Mata'afa and Holmes battle it out in TC/preseason for the 5th spot while Willekes spends another year on the PS an Brailford gets waived...Odenigbo and possibly Mata'afa can possibly play on the interior on passing downs, too...
