Something To Watch Out For - Trade Hunter?

I have a question.. Danchat I need you bud.. Does this signing bonus conversion mean we freed up more cash for this year? Curious about if we freed up more money by doing this.

Did anyone realize if next year we pay Hunter it actually helps the cap. Usually in year one of a new deal the first year is high signing bonus and less hit on the cap. So this may give us more cap next year to absorb Cousins spike and resign some guys if they play well. So this may work out perfect.

They better show us something and put together a complete roster! This group Wilf/Ricky/Brez/Zimmer are going into their 8th season together and have yet to find that sweet spot (SB apparence). Keeping your best defensive player is a huge step in the right direction. We can only hope Hunter's healthy to ball out again.

Unlike some I believe there was a plan a while ago. This is only my opinion but you can take it for what it's worth. I believe the Wilfs decided to extend Ricky and Zimmer before the 2019 season ended and the playoffs began.

I think blowing up the D and get younger was in the team's plan for a while and they started right after the 2019 season. The first defensive group we built ran its course and IMO, it was time to start building a new one. They also wanted to build a better OL with more drafted players in earlier rounds. I seriously doubt Reiff,Josh Kline (and for the most part Remmers who was let go a year earlier) were in the long term future plans of our OL.

Ricky and Zimmer along with the rest of this organization have drafted a lot of players in the past 12 months and IMO have signed some good FAs in that time as well. The first year of this rebuild didn't goes so well but this will be the second and I can see this team looking better in some key areas that might help us be competitive again. Crossing my fingers.

The premise assumes we pay Kirk 45, which I find really hard to believe. Just like Hunter, this big bogey of money is going to force us to get a new deal in place or move on.

I guess we will cross that road when we have to. With the guys we have in the front office I think they can figure something out.

Like you said hopefully Kirk has a monster year and he's The Answer. Given history though I have to admit that's not the most likely outcome.

Yep, otherwise I think it will end bad. Just my gut feeling. He getting old almost 33 and good but not elite to me. If he wins it he gets lifetime achievement award. If not let's move on and build around Mond or someone else younger and cheaper.

That 45 comes due next year we will lose many of these 1 year deal guys. Kirk has shown over and over he can't lead a team with holes. If he is not traded we will have holes next year at his current price. Only way out is to trade him.

An extended deal means he pushes again for more money like he Mahomes or something he is not. Swallowing the extended cap for his benefit. So even though the cap goes up he eats in it and expands with it. I think the Wilfs see that and why they pushed for a young guy like Mond.

His cap hit can all be forgiven winning it but nothing else. We seen deep runs we need to be champs for once.
