Don't draft a WR every year when you don't have a QB. Draft a QB every other year until you got one you like or a couple who you like who can compete for the job.

Fair enough, but a blind squirrel can't find a nut if it doesn't draft QBs in the first place. Spielman will never get lucky on a QB if he continues to rarely draft them.

BTW I was hearing that the Patriots might go after Garoppolo this offseason. Rumors say that Belichick really wanted him back as their starter but they decided to stick with Brady for a couple more years.

well, baring a miraculous trade, I don't see a scenario where we aren't stuck with Cousins for 2 more seasons... I do hope they spend a mid round pick on a QB... I do think it would be smart to draft a guy that needs developing and had the tools/intangibles...

I wonder what his trade value is now? I believe it is 56 million over 2 years, 21 million next year and 35 in 2022. Not nearly as bad as what we would be paying him.

Jay Cutler got two 1sts in a trade. Carson Palmer got the Bengals a 1st and a 2nd, and he wasn't even going to play for the Bengals. A "top 10" QB like Cousins has to get as much as those two for us, right?

Oh, I almost forgot. The Vikings traded a 1st and a 4th for Sam Bradford, an overpaid loser of a QB who didn't even put up good numbers. I can't imagine Cousins gets us less than that.

Yup, QBs go for waaaay too much. Even Joe Flacco and Nick Foles got 4th round picks despite clearly not being good. Tannehill also fetched a 4th, but turned out to be a massive bargain. The Palmer trade was one of the worst I've ever seen, I have no idea what the Raiders were thinking at the time. Cutler at least was thought to have untapped upside. Bradford going for that price isn't a true measure of his value since the Vikings were panicking to get 2 years of control of a QB with Teddy's knee shot.

So I suppose in that light and the way that Cousins has improved since our 1-5 streak, perhaps we get a 3rd for him? $35M guaranteed in 2022 for him is still a lot and reduces the value of the trade.

Anyone watching this Ohio state and Clemson game? Fields just tearing it up like he is trying to prove a point. I know Ohio state qbs usually bust in the nflwlike usc qbs, but man fields is so much different than Haskins. He is mature and wants to learn and be the best. Totally different than haskins. Fields is throwing the ball 60+ yards in the air in target a few times tonight. Throwing darts all over the place. He is outplaying Lawrence. I still think fields should be second qb off the board and is better than wilson who I’m also high on. I don’t think this qb class is weak.

Here's a hypothetical

What would you do if the Jets offered to trade us Darnold for Cousins and take his salary, or at least put us $10m better off after paying for Darnold too? (not sure how this would come about but just throwing it out there).
