Should the Minnesota Vikings take a chance on Johnny Manziel? by Adam Patrick

The former Cleveland quarterback has spent the past year out of the NFL by partying in mansions, tweeting at Donald Trump, attending the Heisman Trophy ceremony, claiming that he will never drink again, and getting engaged to his girlfriend after just six months of dating.

In regards to the woman he is now engaged to, Manziel wants everyone to know that she is making a very positive impact on his life.

“When you find a girl as amazing as I did that saved me from where I was in my life, you absolutely put a ring on it.”

In recent months, he has been making an emphasis to let everyone know about his commitment to get back to throwing passes in the league. He has even gone as far to say that he will volunteer for the NFL to drug test him according to the Sporting News’ Alex Marvez.

So if Manziel is as serious about his comeback as he says he is, should the Vikings consider signing him?

I disliked Manziel as a person, but I didn't like his game as a quarterback either. I would likely say "no".

If the Vikings had drafted Carr like I wanted ... oh, never mind. *deadhorse*

If he(Manzel is cheap enough), then maybe. Vikings will need a QB unless they extend Bradford after next year. Would not like to have to franchise him to keep him. Especially if he does not want to be here(doubtful, but not an addressed topic).
My main issue with Manzel is he bright enough and quick thinking enough to run a pro offense. At this time do not have the answer.

Manziel at least is mobile, do not know how his accuracy is, but with where he was drafted I would guess it was not all bad. I am all for giving a person a second chance. However if they fail a second time, I am done with them and move on.

Okay, if Johnny Goofball really said that, it was sexist, insensitive and likely many other things that today's society frowns upon (I'm really pretty out of touch with all of that). That said, he was quoting a song and likely had positive intentions.

My concern is that he just doesn't "get it." If he really wants to straighten up and fly right, then delete all his social media accounts, move to outer Mongolia and spend 20 hours a day working out, meditating and staying out of the media's spotlight. That would mean a whole lot more to potential future employers than empty public statements that he has (once again) committed to becoming the new Johnny.
