The lack of offensive holding calls stems from our lack of good pass rushers. Refs aren't favoring the Lions, Panthers and Jags over the Vikings, so the fact it has been consistent points to it being our dline not the refs.

Least discussed major issue: just truly how pathetic our DL has been this season

We hear the usual excuses about Hunter and Pierce, but we don't hear about how terrible the DL play his been this year......

Also, the playclock doesn't start until the play is blown dead. So that clip is literally comparing the clocks after the play is over

I just watched it myself frame by frame. At 30 FPS, he spikes it at about the 15th frame, or literally with a half second to go. That's pretty quick reaction time by the clock operator. On the hail mary play, it takes an additional 19 frames for the clock to hit :00. So they're not nearly as quick at starting the clock as they are at stopping it.

But ask yourself, how often does the clock stop at :01 when it's still rolling that late? The ball is snapped and spiked in less than a second, 10 frames to be exact. You could probably argue it wasn't a spike, but a fumble. Can you "make a football move" in a third of a second? But the plot thickens, because the offense has to be set for at least 1 second or it's illegal motion. So how can you get set, and spike a football in half a second?

FTR: In the misleading video above, the spike hits the turf pretty much when the play clock hit 33 seconds, but it keeps rolling.

Ahhh yes, that's the stat I was going to lookup, thanks for reminding me. How often teams lose when they have such a big TOP advantage, because yes, this seems like a very Vikings-esque thing. And my hunch was correct. Since 1998, teams are 196-20 (.907) when they possess the ball for at least 39 minutes (non OT games, regular season only). The Vikings now have 3 of those losses (5-3), which is the most, and 2 in the past 8 games. Dolphins, Bills, Jaguars, and Chargers have 2 each in 22 seasons.

Fun fact: The Bears have only had 1 game where they've possessed the ball for 39+ minutes since 1998, and they lost it (at Detroit) xD. Feel better? Packers are 9-1, Lions 1-0.

Someone said today that Tampa won our division more recently than Detroit. And they left our division 18 years ago I think.

Typical Vikings game. We’re in a must win situation, pretty much controlled our own destiny and as usual a player who has been reliable all year decides to finally sh*t the bed. This happens every season. We play good up until key games. I’ll never get this team and why they choose when to ball out and when to complete. That’s why I barely watch games anymore or am active when it comes to Vikings related chatter. It’s games like these that kills my spirit. Watching the Vikings this season, win or lose, has made me so numb. I think the 2nd Green Bay game was the only game I was energetic for. The rest of these games, numb. I’m not even upset. I’m just tired. This team is never going to get anywhere no matter who we replace. We always find a way to beat ourselves. I’ve lost all hope and it’s hard for me to get excited anymore watching this team play. It’s to the point now where I’m considering only watching college football and nba basketball instead. This team hurts my soul

I am so "Vikinged" out - you could not have expressed that any better- get your hopes up for 2 or 3 games - then a kicker usually misses a sure thing - remember Seattle- they have worn me out for the last time! Don't care if they make playoffs - which they won't- don't care who they draft - won't be what is needed- don't care what play is called- they won't make it anyway- there is no help in the future with 8 & 8 seasons continually racking up!
