This team is a mess

Was that scouting or a g.m. letting his love affair get in the way of solid scouting?   A crazy trade for Trubisky from a guy who previously tried and failed to do similar deals for Marcus Mariota and Carson Wentz, to name two more mediocre qb's.   His staff and coach weren't in on the deal.   Kinda like Jimmy Haslam met a wino who told him draft Johnny Football and so he did, despite having spent $$$ to commission a study that told him not to.   

I think there is plenty of good scouting going on, I listen to a scout who does a pod and his evals are often spot on, but management does stuff for crazy reasons and the solid scouting gets tossed on the pile.   

It is human nature to think "I know/see something that others don't and I can make this daring move and get a big edge!"  And sometimes that happens - Chiefs trade up for Mahomes.  And sometimes not - Bears mortgage the farm for Trubisky.
