I understand why everyone is stoked today, even if for a quick second, but I also see exactly what Boz is saying and definitely lean in his direction here.
Getting hyped over today's win is like getting hyped because that one stock holding you have gained a thousand dollars while your entire portfolio lost 40k in the same day.
This win drops us further down the draft order and keeps Rick/Zim here just a tiny bit longer. Literally both of these things go directly against our goal of building a championship team. This speaks to the overwhelming sentiment within this fan base (not just this board) that minimal and mild success is over celebrated and more than good enough for most fans. It is not unacceptable for the franchise to have won 2 playoff games this decade. The bar is so low for so many vikings fans.
I predict that the sheer talent on the roster will propel us to some kind of run in the 2nd half of the season, netting roughly 7-8 wins total, allowing Rick and Zim to keep their jobs and land a mid tier draft pick. Not in the 2nd round, of course, because Rick wasted that one.
Of course, on some level, all of us love beating the Packers. That's a given...But sometimes you have to be able to comprehend what's in our best interest in regards to the ultimate goal. Facing the hard truths can be hard sometimes.... and a good portion of our fan base refuses to face them........
