Keep both with major changes elsewhere
The status quo is unlikely to remain, which is about the only certainty as the Wilfs look to the future. But perhaps the close relationships between ownership and Spielman and Zimmer persuade the Wilfs to keep both leaders with the understanding they’ll make significant changes elsewhere, including on Spielman’s roster and Zimmer’s coaching staff.
Maybe if Spielman promised a major overhaul to the roster, starting at quarterback, and Zimmer promised a revamped coaching staff with significant changes, they could convince the Wilfs to retain them in their current positions.
This is absolutely the dumbest idea proposed, because neither of these guys are recent additions to the organization, or youngsters who might need some time to figure things out.
Spielman has had 16 years here; how would he overhaul the roster "starting at quarterback"? He hasn't shown the ability to pick a good one...TBH Cousins is probably the best he has brought in, but Spielman has twice grabbed his ankles for Cousins' agent.
Zimmer has had 8 years to "revamp" his coaching staff. He's revamped the OC position 6 times already and he doesn't have a positive trend. He doesn't search for assistants, he breeds them. Most of Zimmer's tenure we have heard some offseason BS about him learning to be a better coach by conferring with Parcells or asking fellow coaches for advice or something. Any chance the Wilfs could find someone who already knows how to be a head coach?
