Hello fellow NFL lovers, and great Minnesota Vikings fans. I am a 54-year old Los Angeles Rams fan since 1974 from Brooklyn,NY. I come in total and complete peace.i guess this thread I am starting is geared more for "old-timers" like myself.
My first NFL Season was 1974 in which my Rams had a great record and advanced to the NFC Championship Game, where our dream of a Super Bowl were dashed by your Vikings in a 14-10 loss in the great Metropolitan Stadium in Bloomington, Minnesota.
We met again in the same NFC Championship Game 2 years later in 1976 and again your Vikings ruined our Super Bowl dream with a 24-13 in FREEZING Minnesota.
We would meet again in the Playoffs the very next year in '77, this time in the Divisional Round but this time, we were FINALLY getting you guys in "sunny" L.A., but fate dealt the Rams with a cruel blow, as Torrential Rains poured down in Southern California days before and on the day of our matchup, breaking an Historic Drought at the time. This made the game, even though in L.A. more "Viking" weather than "Ram" weather and the Vikes once again prevailed 14-7 in possibly the MUDDIEST game in NFL History known as "The Mud Bowl"
FINALLY the very next year, in '78 the Rams, again in L.A.but this time Sunny, beat the Vikings 34-10 in what would be the GREAT Fran Tarkenton's Final NFL Game.
All in all, the Vikings lead the all-time Playoff Series between the two 5-2.
I would love if anyone can add any memories of these games as I feel they are all underrated Classics in NFL lore and also feel Rams-Vikes is an Underrated Rivalry as well. I get a kick out of reliving my "tortured" Ram childhood LOL.
Also, I'm a crazy nut for "Metropolitan Stadium " Vikings and would love to hear any memories of this Classic Ballpark. Thanks and hope you guys will have me.
