Flacco in his prime was one thing, but he was clearly cooked in 2018. His playoff record is quite impressive, but he hasn't been there since 2014.

Lamar was flat-out bad in his first playoff game, but he did everything he could in his second and saw his receivers drop between 5-8 passes and their defense was flattened by Derrick Henry. They've still got 3 more years of Lamar on his rookie deal - not winning a playoff game is disappointing, but the future is still bright for Baltimore.

Maybe so, and I'm not saying I would have chosen Flacco over Jackson (maybe in his prime), but I just wanted to lay out the facts. Jackson may do this or that, but he also might not. People thought Vick was going places too, so lets just hope Jackson is a dog lover. *whistle*

Marino was supposed to win 7 or 8 Super Bowls too. Heck, Bledsoe was supposed to win a few xD. He was scary good in his prime.

The biggest thing working against Jackson is his legs/mobility, so I don't think his window is as open as other QB's. Once his mobility is no longer a threat, I think it's game over for him. His passing game has improved a lot, but I don't think it's improved enough to carry him all by itself. Not like Mahomes.

So RPO QBs are going to have a shorter long term impact much like RBs so it may change the face and structure of the NFL going forward. It will be interesting to see how long lived it is and what comes from it. Shorter shelf life and system fit with smaller contracts.

I think the QBs that are passers that can run are the future. You bring up a scenario that has been seen many times a runner first passer second and they usually have early success that fizzled late. I don't see that trend ending. Mahomes is no doubt a passer that can run but will he even have long term success? The system and the supporting cast also play a huge roll. Team building and the right people in place are still the most needed to succeed.
