I wonder if it makes sense to target a cash strapped team and potentially trade a lower round pick for an established O-lineman who has gotten too expensive. I doubt Cleveland would send Thomas packing, but I'd definitely move the 2nd round pick for Thomas if they were interested. But Cleveland aside, there are some teams that are up against the cap that might move a guy. Spielman ought to have some of those guys on speed dial.
On the FA front, I think you have to think about re-signing Kalil. He's going to be one of the best options on the market... that's sad unfortunately. I don't have a problem spending some FA money on the best lineman available, but with a weak class, it will be a massive overpay... then again, given how poor the line was, even average will be a nice boost. I don't mind the high upside lotto tickets, but I definitely don't want a ton of those. We saw this year that taking risks on oft injured guys leads to injuries with no decent backup.
On the draft side, whatever picks are left I'm definitely getting a guy or two. Don't mind getting a project, but given this is the team's biggest weakness, quantity makes sense, as you can see what sticks and run with it.
