Week 5 - Vikings @ Seahawks Support Group

2 minute Teddy vs the choking Vikings? It's basically the ol unstoppable force vs the immovable object argument.

That doesn't make any sense. It doesn't matter if you fail on 4th down or kick the FG if you're playing a non-threatening QB because they're not going to drive down the field on you in any scenario. Just like it didn't matter if we failed on 4th down or kicked the FG Sunday night because Wilson was going to comeback and beat us. There was only one option available. One option that guaranteed victory, and that was converting 4th down and making sure Wilson never sees the ball again.

And what were the chances of Wilson driving 95 yards in 13 plays, in the pouring rain, converting a hail mary 4th and 10, or throwing the game winning TD on 4th down? Prior to that drive their longest of the game was 58 yards, and they only had 2 over 40. The most plays they ran in a single drive prior to that was 8. And yet somehow they did all that anyway. Should we go over some of the other chances that have happened to the Vikings over the past 60 years too lol? What are the chances Kyle Orton converts a 4th and 27? How bout Gary Anderson missing a 32 yard FG? Blair Walsh? We could do this all day, but only one of us seems to be familiar with the Vikings.

Seattle didn't need that final 2 point conversion. If they did, they would have played it differently. In fact it was almost stupid of them to even attempt a 2 point conversion there because they can be returned by the defense now. Can you imagine taking a 1 point lead with 15 seconds to go and then giving up a defensive 2 point conversion lol? Someone is getting fired for that, so I assume Seattle played it conservatively. If they needed the 2, they would have been more aggressive.

Playing smart is subjective. All those other times when Zim was playing it safe, I'm sure from his perspective he was playing it smart. But this is how it always goes in football. When something works, the coach is a genius, when it doesn't, he's an idiot. It's about as fundamental as rushing leads to winning. Had the Vikings converted the 4th down, nobody would have called him an idiot. Had they stopped Wilson from driving 95 yards, nobody would have called him an idiot. Had Dantzler not picked the worst time to do his Chris Cook impersonation twice on that final drive, nobody is calling Zimmer an idiot.
