Vikes Disappoint Against GB - Who Gets The Deflated Ball?

The Vikings offense runs through Dalvin Cook. Didn't you get the memo?

Oh yes Mr. Kubiak, ... let's call a long developing play-action play when the LOS is a couple feet from one's own goal line, and make sure that running back always gets out for that dump pass just in case.

Do the Vikings even HAVE situational plays built into the gameplan?

The talent isn't there?

There is plenty of talent on offense. Also, teams do with less all the time. You don't need superstars in every position to have an efficient offense. I think our offense would have been fine, had it gotten more opportunities. Yes, the defense sucked, but we knew it'd be a work in process. Too much turnover and inexperience. Going against one of the all-time greats who recently developed a giant chip on his shoulder a few months back didn't help matters either. But everything I read, yes the defense sucked, but it's hard to take too much from this game. Also, it's Week 1. Let's not say there is no hope. What excuse did the 49ers have to lose? Why did the GOAT Brady and the Dream Team Bucs look like that? Hey, weren't the Browns supposed to be good with Stefanski (ya know, the one who got away)? It's Week 1. Week 1 is always a bit crazy -- probably even more so this year. 

Anyway, Rodgers was getting the ball out before pressure would typically get there (even if we were able to generate some). He and the Packers had the perfect game plan: get the ball out quickly and attack the young secondary. With Rodgers' arm, ball placement, and chemistry with his receivers, it was an impossible task. What would have helped? The offense sustaining long drives keep him off the field, controlling the clock, and coming away with 7 a bit more -- giving the defense time to breathe and regroup. They were going to take a beating on Sunday; we all knew that. But it shouldn't have been as bad as it was. Yes, a big part of that is their own fault; HOWEVER, we've been saying for weeks that these first several games the offense was going to have to carry the team more so than in recent years -- allowing the defense to settle in a bit. That didn't happen on Sunday. Hopefully it does moving forward. It's our best chance to win games, and ultimately, have a good season.

We have average talent on offense. Above average at QB and RB, average at WR, and below average Oline and TEs.  

On defense there is only one player on the defensive line who would be considered above average, the rest probably would struggle to find a starting spot on most teams.  We are good at LBer, great at safety, but it doesn't matter because the rest of the secondary sucks. 


The talent is just not there.

What happened? We got our ass kicked in the 1st game of the season that's what happened.

I think people watched the first 3 qtrs of that game and realized that even if the defense wasn't horrible and was just okay, we still probably lose that game. GB letup in the 4th and was running a game plan you might see in a pre-season game. Starters were out there, but they were not showing anything anyone could use to beat them later on.

Cousins gets the hate he does because of the contract and the FACT he struggles in the vast majority of big games. I know we like to pretend a single throw in OT changed all of that, but even Tebow had an OT to win a WC round in his career. The guy is a 32 year old QB who has 1 playoff win to his name making as much as Aaron Rodgers. That is why people rip him.
