As I wrote, the Packers exposed our defense. The loss also exposed the negativity that many people feel about the Vikings.
I find it a little rich when fans think they know more about pro football than guys who have been coaching for 40+ years. Zimmer is a very good defensive coach, and his record proves it. He is not perfect. Today he lost to a creative Coach and a Hall of Fame QB who took advantage of our lack of pressure, lack of Home fans, and our young CBs. The Vikings missed their top pass rusher today.
The Packers' passing game and WR sweeps were what killed us. Their WRs rushed for 57 yards on four carries, and Rodgers was 32/44 for 364 and four TDs. So the problem was not a lack of a stout NT or a weak MLB. Aaron Jones only ran for 66 yards and the Packers had a big lead by halftime. The Vikings did not pressure Rodgers, had 0 sacks, 0 turnovers, and they got gashed on WR sweeps. They can fix that with a healthy Hunter, Ngakoue learning the Vikings' D, and guys stepping up. One bad game does not doom the season when there is talent and coaching.
You can claim that the Viking offense was lucky on its first drive and the other three TD drives were in blowout time. But the Vikings kept scoring. And if Green Bay had not scored 21 2nd half points, the game might have become closer. It was not over at 29-18. Would you have preferred that they quit at 29-10 because they had no chance?
The defense sucked today. They will improve, and Hunter will help. If the offense had been like it was in the 2nd Green Bay game last year, how would you feel? Much worse! All is not lost this season.
