Why are you all settling for mediocre?
I think settling for above average would be more accurate, however it's clear that Zimmer's glaring shortcomings which have been catalogued ad nauseum here and elsewhere mean that he will never win a SB.
For that reason I would have preferred they jettison him after the SF loss - a point at which they could have even gotten draft capital for him out of Jerry J. who was eager to obtain the second coming of Jason Garrett.
His ceiling is clearly DC not HC and while some have taken a long time to realize this (and others still cling to false hope), it was clear to me back in 2016 when he blew up a promising season with his ego. At that point he was seen to be Brad Childress with better coaching skills, but still a man who was clearly over his skis.
That the Viking organization can't analyze things realistically and make needed changes is a testament to their ineptitude, and to the gullibility of fans who keep believing in this allegedly "world class" organization.
Wish and pretend about him all you need, but Mike Zimmer will NEVER win a SB with this team.
