I created a thread last week pointing out the failures of Cousins whenever he faces a top pass defense, but what about the other side of the coin? Turns out, Cousins is an elite QB compared to his peers when facing bottom 10 pass defenses.
Averag: 10-1-1 117 26.58 5.8
Fantastic numbers. Comparing that to how he did against top 10 defenses, that is a difference of 10 wins, 40 points in passer rating, 13 points scored and almost 2 air yards.
How does that compare to Rodgers, who put up similar numbers last year and who Cousins has apparently passed up? Really, really well, depending on how you view these numbers.
Average: 7-2 103 27 6.7
Cousins is far more consistently good against bad defenses and wins much more consistently too. That IS a good thing, but it does point to Cousins having the majority of his success against bad defenses, more-so than other QBs. This is really concerning when you look at the fact only 1 of 20 of the bottom 10 pass rated defenses made the playoffs over the past two seasons, and that 1 team Cousins lost too.
