Any FO can have a bad draft or a bunch of players they were interested in where taken just before their turn, however if Vikings get panned for a second year Spielman must be fired.
Moves like signing Wright long term and not bringing in kickers and punters to compete in the off-season shows that Spielman does not understand what is needed to have long term success in the NFL. Spielman has overpaid Adrian Peterson for years, and he allowed mediocre coaches to stick around for far too long. He makes splashy draft trades, but he wastes high picks to do so. He chose Ponder and has undervalued the quarterback position.
Josh Doctson was selected before the Vikings could draft him, but both Sterling Shepard and Michael Thomas were available. It is too early to tell what the long term career will be for any of these receivers, but Shepard and Thomas have contributed early and often, while Treadwell could barely get on the field and did nothing when he was on it.
