For anyone pissing and moaning about the Bradford trade and not having a 1st round pick, I thought I would offer some encouragement that even without a 1st rounder, the Vikings still have a great chance of getting a stallion in round 2 that can help take the Vikings to the next level. Below I rank my top 10 all-time 2nd round picks by the Minnesota Vikings. So grab some coffee and soak it in and realize there is still hope come draft day. As far as the worst 2nd round picks of all time for the Purple …. I think i’ll hold off on that one, it gets pretty ugly, pretty quick.
1. Matt Blair, Drafted 1974
Blair burst on the scene earning All-Rookie honors and going on to rack up 6 consecutive Pro Bowl appearances from 1977-1982. Played in 2 Super Bowls for Minnesota and will go down as one of the best linebackers to ever wear Purple.
2. Sammy White, Drafted 1976
White leads the way as the best offensive 2nd rounder in Vikings history. The wide receiver from Grambling racked up 2 Pro Bowl selections and 3 All-Pro and the 1976 offensive rookie of the year. He ranks in the top 5 for Vikings all-time receiving yards and touchdowns.
3. Ed White, Drafted 1969
White was an anchor of the Vikings offensive line during all 4 of their Super Bowl appearances. Was a feared offensive lineman as he dominated in both pass and run blocking. Started in a total of 210 games during his career.
