I'm no anti-Teddy guy, but he has his downsides. He's a pocket QB who is very conservative, will not push the ball downfield, and has a pretty bad deep ball. Plus there's concerns if he'll be able to hold up for a full season, something he's only done once. There's plenty of reasons why he's only inked 1 year deals the last two times he's hit free agency...

Did you forget that Denver is one year removed from paying Keenum $18M per year to be their QB and he flunked the job? They've already announced that Lock will be their starting QB in 2020, but just because Shurmur is there doesn't mean Keenum is coming back too. They just traded him away about a year ago.

As for Keenum I think he was on pace to fade out, but circumstance could rejuvenate his career with Pat Shurmur being fired and hired by the Broncos. Case of course had his best season ever with Shurmur's offense for a Bronco's team whose QB situation is hardly settled. They have Drew Lock but he wasn't a 1st round commitment nor did he lock down his spot. The Broncos could get Case for cheap and could absolutely challenge Lock in preseason and possibly win out. In any case the possibility would be there for Keenum to start in Denver this year and if so could possibly take that spot over.

Lock went 4-1 as the starter for Denver last year. 7/3 TD to INT ratio, 64% completions...why wouldn't Denver want to give him the ball to start the season?

I didn't say they wouldn't. I said if Case would be brought back, he'd be in position to be at his best, and Case at this best could possibly perform better than Lock in this offense. Politically lock would probably start no matter what, but as we've seen in the NFL things happen and opportunities open up. and Lock is not a Top 5 pick or even 1st round pick, meaning the Broncos aren't committed. my overall point is the circumstance of Shurmur ending up in Denver could create some interesting scenarios.

And we foolishly tried to fix something that wasn't broken.

And by that I dont necessarily mean Case himself (or his abilities), but more so the supporting cast on offense. He got the most out of them. He made everyone look better. Allowed our WR duo to be focal point of offense (as they should be), allowed seemingly any RB to come in and produce more or less equally... cook, McKinnon, Murray, it didnt matter.... they all produced..... and lastly, he made the OL look better than they were with his movement in pocket and escapability.

Correct. It wasnt Shurmur as much as the talent around him in 2017.

IMO keeping Bridgewater was the right move, but his health was to hard to take a chance on. Sucks!

Pros: Bridgewater's accuracy and ability to work through his progressions in the pocket make him arguably the closest comp for Brady's biggest on-field strengths. Bridgewater has also followed in Brady's footsteps and done a solid job of protecting the football; after his rookie season, he has thrown just 13 interceptions on 668 pass attempts for an interception rate of 1.9%. The Louisville product threw just two picks on 196 pass attempts filling in for Drew Brees last season, with Bridgewater completing nearly 68% of his passes while winning all five of his starts.

What might make Bridgewater most appealing to the Patriots, though, is his age. At 27, Bridgewater still has the bulk of his career to come. While passers such as Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota are in the same age range, Bridgewater has the highest floor of the younger signal-callers. If he can re-create his 2019 form with the Patriots, he would give the Pats a quarterback they can win with in 2020 and beyond.

Cons: Any team has to be concerned about the catastrophic knee injury Bridgewater suffered during the 2016 preseason. The injury happened during practice, and Bridgewater has generally done a good job of avoiding hits as a pro, but he has thrown only 221 pass attempts over the past four seasons. At the very least, New England would need to give Bridgewater's knee a thorough look before committing to him on a long-term deal.

With that in mind, the Patriots might hold reservations about Bridgewater's size. It's worth remembering that they famously chose 6-foot-4, 225-pound Brady over 6-foot, 200-pound Louisiana Tech quarterback Tim Rattay, in part, because Brady was the bigger passer. Belichick has drafted 11 quarterbacks during his time in New England, and 6-2, 215-pound Bridgewater is smaller by height, weight or both than each of those 11. Belichick might not pass up a franchise quarterback for the want of an inch or 10 pounds, but the Patriots would likely prefer a bigger quarterback if all else was equal.

As the legal tampering period starts next week, the speculation on Teddy Bridgewater's future will FINALLY end and we should have a pretty good idea where he ends up. And for all that this man has gone through since that fateful August afternoon almost 4 years ago, to know that he's finally going to be the official franchise of a team, at a time that couldn't be any better for him. His stock is at his highest when the cap just got bumped up again, plus guys like Brady and Dak about to push the contract limits even higher, after a 4 year speed bump, Teddy is about to cash in and get his new team.

The demand is just too high now to think Teddy will take some low-ball deal ,or would join a team where he's competing with a Trubisky-type for the right to start. Teddy is going to get Paid and he's going to be the starter. And the best part is, out of all the teams that are in play and most talked about in media, they are all AWESOME teams for Teddy! If he can't be our guy anymore then I want him somewhere he can flourish and succeed. and the teams most mentioned are the Patriots, Chargers, Buccaneers, followed by Colts, Panthers, and Bears. There is no 2019 Dolphins in this equation, these are all GREAT situations personnel and/or coaching-wise. Like your favorite puppy you've suddenly become allergic to, Teddy is virtually guaranteed to end up in a good home.

The patience of his fans, and most importantly the patience of Teddy himself and his family is about to be rewarded in the best way, and i'm so happy that day has finally come after FOUR YEARS!

See, none of these things matter to me, yet I still find them more interesting than where the Saints backup QB ends up. The Saints backup QB...this still isn't, and hasn't, since March of 2018, been a Vikings Talk topic...yet is still remains in this part of the board. That, is the truly baffling part of the equation to me.
