We now know that the Jets are absolutely all in on drafting a rookie. They gave a bounty of picks to the Colts to move up three spots, clearly because of the growing feeding frenzy around QBs at the top of the draft. They trumped Buffalo's recent moves by beating them to number three. I'm continuing to predict the NYG grabbing a QB, and the fact that they didn't take the Jet's package for number two further supports that. That means Buffalo can get the leftover only by trading up to number four, to get in front of the Broncos. Elway may beat them to the punch, and swap picks with Cleveland. Cleveland will be the winner in this (maybe reverse Karma for us screwing them in a swap when Kalil/Richardson were the two picks).

Of course, this is terrible news for Teddy, because his new beau is already courting another. I've searched for Teddy's new contract terms and can't find a thing about guaranteed money. Hopefully those rotten Jets weren't just taking advantage of him as cheap insurance until they were able to make this trade. Is he already on the trade block? *goteddy*

McCown has been all but anointed the starter. They are drafting a QB at #3.

So, let's assume for a moment McCown remains the starter, does reasonably well and the Jets are 6-8, 7-7 heading into their last two games. If they were eliminated from the playoffs...that would be the perfect time to play the rookie.

Likewise, if McCown remains the starter, and gets off to a poor start, 0-2 or 0-3... Teddy, if they turned to him, would be under immense pressure to save Todd Bowles job. If he couldn't, and Bowles is fired, it's the rookies turn.

Now let's assume Teddy Bridgewater wins the starter's job. A guy who hasn't played but 8 snaps in two years, and didn't light the scoreboard up when he did is now playing in front of the highly anticipated QBOTF. I wouldn't envy any QB in that situation.

McCown I understand, is 39, and is living on borrowed time NFL-wise. Every week he gets a paycheck ensures his grandchildren's future well-being. What's it to him if in Week 6 or Week 16 he gets pulled for the next QB? Teddy Bridgewater is 25, he presumably, has another contract after this one. If he doesn't get to play, or even worse has an annotated, poor run as starter?

I don't know if there was a better situation for Teddy Bridgewater, but I can't think of many that would be worse...in my opinion.

I never thought particularly highly of his ability...but, he is a good kid. Now that the Tedrian Pondwater era has ended, I wish him nothing but the best.
