You said exactly what I said. He went down just before the hit, but until just a split second before that he was not down. He was trying not to go down, and that point the defender is still quite legally heading right for him.

He wasn't quite on his butt, he put his arm down, twice, to stiff arm the ground, to try to pick up extra yards, and he was still rolling forward by the time Harris committed to the hit. Harris put his shoulder into him to keep him from rolling further forward, but I don't think he intentionally tried to hit Teddy in the neck area, it was just one of those bang/bang plays. They're asking these defenders to do the impossible sometimes. Defy physics.

We see this how many times a game where a defender with momentum commits to making contact and in the split second after that commitment something ocurres that turns it into a bad decision, but only with the benefit of slow motion and hindsight. You gotta look at it in real time from the defenders POV. The only dirty thing about the play was the Fowler trip, and maybe that contributed to putting Teddy in an unsafe position.

Their defense and oline are bad, but if Carolina had CMC all season they would be a playoff team this year.

They will be drafting high again, have some cap to spend in a year where free agents will cost very little, and should be much better in 2021.

Here are some stats about how Carolina's offense is scoring and moving the football with Teddy at QB:

10th in scoring efficiency
2nd in yards per drive
#1 in fewest three and outs per drive
2nd in TOP per drive

This despite being 18th in rushing yards per game (a large chunk of those yards coming from Teddy himself.)

What about defensively?
27th in scoring efficiency
29th in yards per drive
31st in 3 and outs per drive
32nd in TOP per drive

Pretty obvious which side of the ball is keeping that team in games and which side is one of the worst units in football. It is amazing what Teddy is doing leading that offense with little run support and a terrible offensive line that just gave up pressure on 50% of Teddy's dropbacks for the second game in a row despite Teddy's quick release. Teddy is 5th in passing yards, 4th in deep ball completions, 5th in 3rd down conversion percentage via the pass, 8th in deep ball completion percentage and his 3 receivers are having a career year with him at QB.

Incredible considering the underlined stats above shorten the game considerably and he has 19 fewer drives than the the team with the most drives in the NFL. So while he has played 9 games, the reality is his # of drives where he could actually throw TDs and yards only amount to him having played 7 or 8.

He is destroying narratives this season (including some positive ones admittedly), and the Vikings would be a significantly better team with him as our QB.

Using the bandwagon logical fallacy to refute factual numbers? Someone is getting desperate. Panther fans also thought Cam was a great option at QB this year, and he is on pace to throw 4 TDs and lose 10 games with the greatest coach in NFL history.

Teddy can't win with a terrible Oline, no run game and a terrible defense. There are maybe 3 QBs who can win with that around them, 0 QBs that could win a SB. Is he elite? No. Is he a great value compared to a lot of QBs who are making 30+ million? Absolutely.

He has been a solid NFL starter and better than our current QB since leaving the Vikings. If going forward he does only end up being a solid journeyman QB like you said, he was not worth a 1st round pick to begin with. Both of these scenarios are strikes against the current GM and that is why Teddy is still relevant to this team.

If Rick were fired today, tomorrow I would say this thread should die, but until that time, he should be brought up as a black mark on Rick's resume.

If he's a great as some people think then he's a bright A+ on Rick's resume. The fact he left doesn't change that. We don't even have clear insight into why he left - was it the knee? Was it Rick? Was it Zimmer? Was it Teddy wanting too much, or was he peeved about something? We don't know. And I don't care. He's gone and hasn't played real snaps here in 5 years. He's irrelevant to the current Vikings.

It absolutely does. I don't give credit to the Twins for drafting David Ortiz, but I do blame them for letting him go. The injury does come into play with that decision, and Teddy did come with some risks, but so did giving 86 million guaranteed to a guy who had never won more than 9 games in a season.

And I don't care. He's gone and hasn't played real snaps here in 5 years. He's irrelevant to the current Vikings.

You might not care, but there are people still so deranged about their dislike of Teddy, they visit other team's message boards to see how he is perceived on his new team.
