I’ll try to make a lineup of under rated Vikings players...
QB- Probably Joe Webb. He was run out of town without a second thought, and he’s managed to build a 10 year NFL career as a gadget guy.
RB - Moe Williams. When he was Michael Bennett’s backup he racked up the all purpose yards and TDs. 23 TDs in 4 years backing up Bennett.
FB/TE - Jimmy Kleinsasser - Dude never racked up yards, but he was a bulldozer on run plays. I think he was a huge reason why we had an awesome OL/run game for many years.
WR - Jake Reed. Even in this thread we forget the 3rd WR from the greatest show on turf.
OT - Bryant McKinnie is a good choice 👍 He could have been an all time great if he cared about football.
OG - David Dixon/Joe Berger. Couldn’t choose between the 2. Both were solid OG who were overshadowed by either a dominant OL (Dixon) or a bad line overall (Berger).
C - John Sullivan - There wasn’t a huge drop off between him and Matt Birk, which says a lot. He wasn’t showered in accolades during his tenure here, but it was noticeable seeing the drop off between him and the guy who replaced him.
DE - Lance Johnstone. Who remembers this guy? Back in my sports sports sports phase, I would get upset that Tice never played him enough. He posted 41 sacks over 5 seasons with the Vikes in part time duty!
DT - Chris Hovan.
LB - EJ Henderson. He was a mainstay on our LB corps for years. Never made a pro bowl until the year he came back from that hideous broken leg.
CB - Antoine Winfield. Kind of a cop out because he’s one of the best CBs I’ve seen wear purple. I under rated him during his tenure because I didn’t know he was so good. It hurt after he left and there was no one to replace him.
Safety - Robert Griffith. I remember him being a staple in the secondary during the 90s. And him blowing people up with ease. Him and Winfield are the best tackling secondary players I’ve seen as a fan.
Special Teams - Heath Farwell. I did a double take after seeing he was only on the team for 6 seasons. It felt like he was here anchoring the special teams unit for 15 years.
