I know you got my answer already and I've beaten it to death, but just to sum up my argument. In the context of trying to figure out which team truly has the best passing or running offense (that part is important), neither would count. You can't extract any kind of useful information from a broken play. What counts as a broken play is an argument for another day and probably gets too subjective.

By definition every QB scramble is a broken play. That's why it's called a scramble on the stat sheet and not a run lol. For whatever reason, scrambling yards officially count as rushing yards though, while sack yards go down as passing yards xD. Well sack yards go down as team passing yards, but not individual passing yards. So when you look at the boxscore and see that the Vikings only had 250 passing yards while Cousins had 284, it's because he got sacked 5 times for 34 yards. The entire system is broken.

Thats college football. Sacks don't count against yardage in the NFL.

Brah, I can't believe you'd do me like that. As I said, sack yards count against a teams passing yards, but not an individual QB's passing yards. I have no idea how they score it in college. I don't follow college football. I'm an unofficial bonafide NFL statistician however. I'm the one who corrects them when they score something wrong.

Let me introduce you to my bible:

And then let me point you to page 17, bullet point #5 which states:

5. The individual passer shall not be charged with an attempted forward pass, or yardage
lost, when the play is scored as a sack. However, the yardage lost on such plays MUST
be deducted from his team’s gross passing yardage to reflect net yards gained passing.

Clearly his strategy is working at making the Vikings a very average offense. That is what wins championships after all, average.
