Answers you have given are direct results of Spielman failing as a GM and are short sided answers. It's far from just what he could get in this years FA group. It's been a collection of years combined as to why they have failed and why they are in this position as a team.

So how many college Wrs had a skill set to be a true x or z. JJ was neither and people think he's an automatic upgrade some say better then Diggs. I doubt they know much or are just homers. If JJ could have shown that production outside this year I would be much happier.

The fact is he isn't a guy that takes the top off from the outside that is most likely why he was moved inside. If he was more productive outside he would have stayed there.

What I'm saying is if they run most sets out of 2 WR/TE set we wont see much of our first pick of 2020 on the field if he cant produce outside. There is no other WR outside of AT that has proven his salt. If JJ doesn't produce it's not going to be good. The fact that Rick just dips his toe to solve issues is a head scratcher and has been for a long time. The reason he has issues with areas of weakness and need and it's easy to see why they stay that way.

We had more than a decent option that's going to be the issue going forward. If the passing game sucks this year Rick and Kirk will be the reason. Rick for signing Kirk to an extension not going harder at OL and WR positions and letting a top talent go. They will both be tied to Diggs leaving and we both no that is at their feet.

Allen dropped because of injury and was considered slow but had on field tape that showed he was pretty savvy. MT was the top 3 WR by many but lacked production at OSU so others like Spielman took Treadwell instead. Coleman was they biggest risk and many said Treadwell couldn't separate Fuller was the safe pick. Lucky for the Saints the Redskins Browns and Vikings don't know how to judge WR talent.

Doctson was my favorite WR of that class, and I thought that Thomas didn't have enough production, was a bit slow, and was probably just a slot guy... but still, I think I've learned a lot since that draft class (and I actually watch tape of the WRs now). If the two biggest criticisms of Jefferson are that he's a slot guy and that he was #2 to Ja'Marr Chase... I love his chances at becoming a legit NFL WR.

Thielen has played plenty of outside receiver, he and Diggs would rotate all the time. I think Jefferson would rotate just like Thielen, I think he's got what it takes to play outside.

They have a decent backup option in Tajae Sharpe and Bisi Johnson proved he can be a passable 3rd WR; do you see anyone in free agency that would be a major upgrade?

Lets estimate that the cap will be $215 if all goes right. If we can't agree on that number then the rest of my point is mute.

1. At $215 million cap currently gives the Vikings $42 million in cap.
2. I think its safe to say between this draft and next years really solid OT classes that Rieff will not be on the team. Believe that is 12 in savings if we cut next year.
3. Brings us two $54 million.
4. Also don't think Stephen is on the team next year, we will all agree. Thats Another $4 million
5. Thats $58 million in cap space
6. Lets say the Vikings players hit $10 million in escalators this year, Its a high number but going on the way safe side. That puts us back down to $48
7. They will have about $10 million that will go on the the books from this years rookies and UFDA thats not accounted for next year yet. Lets say thats 12 players.
8. Thay brings us to $38 million
9. They will also have roughly 10 future contracts/ minor FA additions/ practice squad at time of FA next year on the books so lets go high at $8 million for them.
10. So with the 34 players currently accounted for -2 (rieff and stephen) 32 current contracts plus 12 rookies puts at 44 + 10 other that puts us 54 players with roughly $30 million in cap.
11. Since I went high on most stuff I and cut line is 51 players I would say roughly $34 to $40 million when FA opens next year.
12. They can also roll over cap space but not sure what that amount is with the new CBA. Believe it was 10 to 12 perscent. If that is still the case, could easily be above $40million next year when FA starts.
