I voted the draft as an "A". I expect to grade it different a year from now, and each year thereafter.

Now the Saints pick up Winston @ QB and are being lauded for their 4 measly picks. The Saints had just 4 picks and we had 15. Who had the better draft weekend?

Then our biggest rival's draft was terrible. The Bears had very few picks, and the Lions are the Lions.

If you ask me, we made tremendous progress on all NFC teams, with the exception of the Niners.

Curious why the Niners are an exception? They lost Buckner and added the unproven Kinlaw. Lost Staley but traded for Trent who hasn't played in a while. I like Aiyuk for sure but I dunno. Is it more that they just stayed the same? (which was already really strong)

Those straight A's are interesting, and I doubt any of them took into account that we added a fourth and fifth in 2021. That said, what seems to be missing between our opinions and the experts is that a lot of us are focused on the seemingly incomplete job we did addressing IOL, while the experts just seem to look at value versus draft position.

I'm guessing that in contrast, both experts and fan are 100% in agreement that the Packers' draft sucked. *GBsux*

I was pretty happy that they did this. I have been advocating for some time that when they have a bounty of picks like that, they should be doing that. You can create a really good stable pipeline of future picks if you're disciplined about that type of move. Make it a point of turning a couple 7ths into 6ths the following year, and then do the same with your lower round 6th when that happens... eventually you'll have some day 2 picks simply from trades...

That said, I gave it a B. Wasn't a fan of the Jefferson pick. I get that he was BPA, but I'd have rather traded up to grab one of the defenders if they could have... it does sound like those prices were a bit inflated this year, so perhaps that really wasn't an option, without moving on from their 2nd or 3rds... I was pretty happy with Cleveland, and I liked Gladney and Dantzler... like it or not, we needed some depth to the CB position. My biggest concern was not getting more linemen on both sides. I hope it's b/c there are guys who will step up in that capacity... otherwise, all those new CBs aren't going to change much when we are unable to generate pressure on the CB... Hopefully Lynch plays well above his draft slot and a combination there of Lynch/Mataffa can get some interior pressure on the QB.

I was in the B camp. I'm opposed to WR in round 1 so that dings it for me right off the bat. We could've dealt 22 for for 37 and 71. We could've chosen Hunt, Gross-Matos, Blacklock, etc. with that pick instead of Jefferson. With 71 we could've had Madubuike or Josh Jones. We could've had Duvernay at 89. So, for me, we lost a lot of value being so in love with Jefferson there.

I like Gladney a lot. Cleveland a lot. Danztler I've warmed up on quite a bit. Lynch was great. Dye was a favorite of mine. After that the end of the draft nothing really stood out.

So solid group of talent, but some missed opportunities IMO.

Minnesota entered the draft on Thursday morning with 12 picks and sixth-most draft capital available. Through trades of 2020 picks (including the Trautman trade with the Saints) the Vikings wound up with 15 draft picks in the 2020 draft plus two other picks in the 2021 draft. In total, they turned 56.5 draft points in 2020 into 58.9 draft points in 2020 and 7.4 more draft points in 2021, giving them a net added value of 9.8, the most of any team in the draft.

Good draft in my opinion. Spielman has always been good to draft enough talent to keep the to team competitive. I like the early round picks. Didn't care for many of the late round picks. Sometimes I wish he would trade up more to get a guy who may have a greater possibility at contributing rather than drafting all these late round guys who are long shots at best. But who knows, a lot of the late rounders could be teachable. Just because they're not 1st to 4th round talent doesn't mean they can't be starters. With right coaching and reps, some of these guys could be studs in the future. But overall I like it, camp is going to be fun this year. We have a lot of young and hungry guys ready to make a name for themselves. I can't wait.

Minnesota Vikings: A-

Minnesota came into Thursday night with 12 picks and ended Saturday night with 15 picks, plus an extra fourth-rounder and two extra fifth-round picks in the 2021 draft. With that much capital, it takes a lot not to get at least an A- grade from me. And really, I like the value the Vikings got throughout, starting with extracting a first-round pick for wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who was disgruntled in Minnesota. General manager Rick Spielman was able to get the No. 22 pick from the Bills, and he was able to directly address the hole at wideout, taking Justin Jefferson, who is a perfect fit. He's going to catch a ton of passes from Kirk Cousins out of the slot.

The Vikings also got a starting cornerback in Jeff Gladney (31), even if he was a little lower on my board. Teams reached for cornerbacks in Round 1, but I can live with this one; we know how much Mike Zimmer likes to mold defensive backs, and Gladney had an early Day 2 grade from me. Offensive tackle Ezra Cleveland (58) has a chance to start immediately. He was Boise State's left tackle this season, and he's an athlete. Cornerback Cameron Dantzler (89) ran slow at the combine, but Minnesota got good value in the third round. And again, let Zimmer get a chance to work with him.

Defensive tackle James Lynch (130) is a high-motor guy with some upside, while end D.J. Wonnum (117) should rotate in as a rookie. Safety Josh Metellus (205) and defensive end Kenny Willekes (225) are good values late in Day 3. It's going to be tough for all 15 of these picks to make the Vikings, but I like the selections in the first two days and the depth on Day 3.

Favorite: CB Cameron Dantzler, Mississippi State (89)

Dantzler is on the skinny side for the position, but it never mattered against SEC competition. If he can put on any muscle at all, he’ll be worth more than the 89th pick.

Least Favorite: Edge D.J. Wonnum, South Carolina (117)

Wonnum has the athleticism but none of the production. The fourth round is fine for guys like that, so no big issues with the Vikings' great draft.

Positives

-Solid first day picks
-liked how Rick parlayed the abundance of picks in to next years draft.

Negatives

-We still do not have a starting LG on the roster
-Just me but I value quality over quantity. 10 day 3 picks...
-I find Rick's need to constantly trade down extremely annoying
