Paying so little for a starting QB happens so infrequently I think Dallas did not maximize the most of this 4 year period...sure, they had the best record but didnt win a playoff game.
That season they had one of the easiest schedules in the league. I know they can only play who is on the schedule, but that was a factor in them being the 1 seed.

I understand the window is not yet over, but I don't think they have made moves that will help them beat the Eagles.

They lost the playoff because their defense 'couldn't stop a nose bleed' and that will be the same issue with this years Cowboys.

Ya...the 5th defense which was aided in large part by their time of possession on offense against one of the easiest schedules in the league. Last season their time of possession dropped, and so did their defensive rank.

They lost their playoff game because their defense gave up 300 yards passing and near 100 rushing, at home--this was two years ago. What improvements have been made ?

Tyron Smith is not getting younger; Dak and Zeke will need big contracts; they don't have pieces on defense; they play in a competitive division. To me, the window opened fast and is closing just as quick.

I have to side with Ocampo here... the Cowboys haven't been able to get a lot of talent around the Prescott-Elliott core. Their WR and TE group is a total joke and yeah, the O-line is good, but I don't think Dallas even goes 8-8 this season.

BTW, the Cowboys are paying a combined $15M this season to WRs Terrance Williams, Allen Hurns, Cole Beasley, and Tavon Austin and I don't think any of them are good enough to be starters. Oh, and Elliott's already making $6.8M this season, which is almost 10 times as much Prescott's making.

Dallas had the 5th ranked D in 2016 (even if it was aided by top, many great Ds have been) and lost in the playoffs to a guy named Aaron Rodgers. You dont need a crap D to lose to Aaron Rodgers.

Im pretty certain a top 5 D, with a top 3 O line qualifies as talent. Dak and Zeke have had plenty to work with.

I agree they arent likely to be much going forward, but that doesnt mean they havent had some help in the past.

Julio Jones Is Great At Everything But Catching Short Touchdowns

Among players with at least 8,000 career receiving yards, there are just seven players who averaged fewer than one receiving touchdown per 200 receiving yards: Jeff Graham was by far the biggest outlier, with just one touchdown catch per 272 receiving yards. Henry Ellard is the second biggest outlier because (1) he’s Ellard, a borderline Hall of Famer and (2) he had just one touchdown per 212 receiving yards. Next up is Julio Jones at one score for every 211 receiving yards, followed by Eric Moulds, Johnnie Morton, another HOF candidate in Andre Johnson, and finally Terry Glenn.

So why does Jones have so few touchdowns as a percentage of his astronomical receiving yardage? To dig in a little deeper, I wanted to compare the length of his touchdowns to that of the other best receivers in today’s game. Who are the top 10 wide receivers of this current era? That’s subjective, of course, but in addition to Jones, a pretty good list would include Antonio Brown, Odell Beckham, DeAndre Hopkins, Mike Evans, A.J. Green, Larry Fitzgerald, Demaryius Thomas, Dez Bryant, and T.Y. Hilton.

Where Jones really falters is in short touchdowns.

Yeah it's too bad the NFL doesn't allow bad teams in the playoffs so overrated teams can win Super Bowls too lol. A top 5 defense should be able to put together a better home playoff game than that, even against Aaron Rodgers. The Cowboys beat the Packers in Lambeau earlier that year 30-16. Picked off Rodgers once, and forced him to fumble twice.

Good defenses have shut him down before too. Ours has a few times. Doesn't do you much good if you coast through the regular season, land the #1 seed and can't do anything when it matters. They got behind the Packers early 21-3 and nearly pulled off an amazing comeback, but they didn't bleed enough time off the clock by the time they kicked their game tying FG. They left 35 seconds on the clock for Rodgers.

But no, turns out they're not related.

Tony is 51 so I suppose it could have been his son.
