That's great, so you do know about FootballIdiot. MaddenAMP and the NZA Madden Editor are game-changers and big reasons why I still play Madden 08 to this day.
If there's anything specific tasks you're having trouble with (getting an updated roster and portraits was one of them?) I could help you out.
All of these things work just fine, however I've run into a crashing problem with the new stadiums. The game won't let me load any of them. I posted over on FI about it so hopefully they have a solution. Levi stadium and Lucas Oil work just fine so I don't know what's up with the others.
Not so sure about Jinx week 13 rosters either. He's got Teddy rated higher than both Keenum and Bradford, and the Vikings defense sucks lol. I simulated a season just to test it out and the Vikings gave up 40+ points a few times and 400 on the season. 4th worst in the league. League wide the INT's were ridiculously high as well, so not sure what's going on there. Some QB's threw 30 INT's and most threw 20+. And no QB finished above 60% completions or 7 YPA. The rushing was way off too. Only one 1000 yard rusher, Russell Wilson xD. I was using cmp66's coaches settings so maybe that's the problem, or calhoupes scripts. Although come to think of it I was using cdcool's 15 minute CPU vs CPU sliders, which were meant for watching not simulating.
Still the INT's are too high. I was watching the Vikings play the Lions and Stafford and Teddy each threw 3 INT's in the first half. The Vikes D was a lot better in that game though, holding Detroit to just 10 points. Oh and don't tell Funkytown this, but Teddy was knocked out of the game near the end of the 2nd quarter and Shaun Hill came in and immediately threw a 75 yard TD pass to Wright, and led them to a 30-10 win. Teddy only got the Vikings past their own 40 yard line just once before going down, so that part is pretty realistic at least xD. Then Shaun Marino came in and started slinging the ball all over the yard. He finished 12/19 for 210 in just over 2 quarters of play.
I don't want to give the moron too much credit though, because for whatever reason, with the Vikings leading 27-3 with under 2 minutes to go, Hill decided to run the 2 minute offense instead of taking a knee. He dropped back to pass on 8 of the 10 plays that drive, and he always snapped the ball with 15-20 seconds still on the play clock. That's some Atlanta Falcons Super Bowl 51 type stupidity right there. So yeah, apparently the AI doesn't know how to run out the clock.
Worst of all, on his final pass he inexplicably threw the ball up for grabs into triple coverage in the EZ. No idea how that didn't get picked off. All 3 defenders played hot potato with it for about 10 seconds before it finally hit the ground. The INT slider is at 1 lol, but don't let that fool ya, there were still 7 INT's in the game, so go figure. The Lions had conceded the game on that drive too, they never used any timeouts, so nothing made sense. 3 knees and it would have ended 27-3, but I guess old man Hill wanted to run up the score xD. The Lions got the ball back with 53 seconds to go and marched right down field and scored a TD on the final play.
So I'll have to do some tweaking to get better statistical results once I figure all this other stuff out. Madden, it's 4% modding, 2% playing, and 94% tweaking xD.
You need to go into Game Settings -> AI and set the CPU Interception slider down. I tried raising it in one of my franchises and the interceptions went sky-high.
You need to be careful with coaching settings because if you've used any past settings or followed the instructions incorrectly, the settings can stack on top of old ones and cause teams to run or pass waaaay too much. It is somewhat hilarious to see when every single team gives their HB 450 carries or when all QBs are over 5,000 yards passing.
QB injuries in Madden 08 are probably the most frustrating thing.... even with a QB with the best durability with INJ at 99, they still routinely get injured once per game. Hill will probably get injured in short order.
The AI is pretty terrible with clock management. Even in situations where they can run down the clock with kneeldowns they'll hike the ball early and give you enough time to get the ball back.
Interceptions are also a huge problem in Madden 08... defenders drop them all the time, but if they didn't, each QB in the NFL would have 40 interceptions a piece. They just throw so many dumb passes straight to defenders that the only way to keep the stats realistic is if they drop picks constantly.
