Generally it works like this.

PPG given up and team record, 2015-2019.

<17 ppg	        12	4

17.0-19.9	11	5

20.0-21.9	 9	7

22.0-23.9	 8	8

24.1-26.0	 7	9

>26.0	         5     11

The Patriots went from 26 PPG in 2019 to 21 PPG in 2020... meanwhile their defense is still playing well, and according to you they should be in the 9-7 range when they're currently 6-7. And it's not even like Brady was in his prime when he left them!

If you think 21.5 ppg on defense is doing well. Only one other time in Belichick time with the Pats have they given up more and they went 9-7 that year. Yes, they went from 28 ppg on offense to 21 ppg. But they also lost Edelman at the end of October and only have one other WR or TE from 2019 on the team. During Belichick's time in NE they have averaged 18.7 ppg on defense. 21 points on offense is the worst they have done since his first year there when they did only 18 ppg on offense. Bledsoe's last year on the team. Did Brady make a difference? I'm sure he did. But if he made that great of a difference, why isn't he doing it in Tampa? Wait, Tampa scored 28 ppg on offense last year, and this year they are scoring...........28 ppg. So Tampa gained what?

A guy who doesn't turn the ball over at a historic rate. Winston could move the ball, but threw 30 picks and fumbled 12 times, and set the record for most pick 6s thrown in a season. Winston helped crater his defense's PPG, but that doesn't show up in the offensive side of PPG due to garbage time. Brady provides the same PPG with far less turnovers, which in the big picture is a big boost.

The only way we are going to make a run is if our Defense carries us. I love my team but I'm realistic about about our chances IF we make the playoffs
