Our 2020 Defense

I think that's a legitimate option. I'm unsure what we would get in return, as the only other tag and trades that have happened recently got a 4th and a 7th (Jarvis Landry to Browns) and somehow a 1st, 2nd, and flip of 3rds (Frank Clark to Chiefs). I think we could get at least a 4th for Harris.

Wouldn't the cap hit from the tag (we'd need to clear space first obvi) stay tied up (aka we wouldn't be able to make any FA signings) until the trade is official?

Also, as far as trading for a 4th... we would get at least a 4th comp pick anyway if he left via FA... I know trade would be a 4th in this yrs draft vs. A 4th in next yrs draft w the comp pick, but nonetheless... seems like a lot to deal with for not a huge gain in the end....


And more importantly than all of the above..... why the f*ck are we looking to get rid of our best player from last year's team!? That seems.... insanely stupid..... if your #1 goal is to win the Superbowl this year, that is....

Get rid of the underachieving guys.... not Harris who played lights out all season long....

All the big changes coming on this side of the ball has me thinking. Me, I'm glad to see things changing. We built a good D since Zimmer was hired, but the time has come to retool and build another good D.  

I personally would love just to sign Alexander and move on from Joseph, Rhodes and Waynes. And as much as I like the underdogs (UDFAs), at 29 I can see Anthony Harris signing for the best deal. I would. Besides, our money should be spent elsewhere.    

Joseph could give us a year or two, but he's slowing down. What the f*ck is the point? Use the money elsewhere. Put a younger player Armon Watts, draft a DT and sign a 26ish year old FA and you'll likely get the same production or better. You never know until you try. I say we move on from Joseph. 

Rhodes is done IMO. Not much else to say and the money should be spent elsewhere due to younger guys on the roster, draft and free agency. 

Like Anthony Harris, we can't afford to be paying big contracts.......Trae Waynes will likely take the money in FA and that's fine by me.  

I like this thread. A lot to think about for sure. But it is a young man's game and what have you done for me lately league!

No problem with resigning Mack to a shorter 2/3 year contract. No long term, he still has more to prove. If you do that you return 3 talented cbs who have been under Zims defense for several years.

Joseph has to be cut. They need a big guy to eat up block's like he used to. I have said this for years that Zimmers defense is all about 3rd and long. If the other teams aren't in 3rd and long its going to be a long day. Who they get who knows but they need much much better production there.

Maybe a dumb question....can we tag and trade Harris?
