One thing that really jumps out is the amount of pressures generated by Hunter and Griffen compared to Ngakoue and Odenigbo. 51 pressures last year compared to 22 this year. The interior was rarely getting after the QB, even last year, but Joseph was making stops (tackle resulting in a negative play for the offense) at a pretty high rate. The other thing I see that is really concerning is how few tackles Odenigbo and Ngakoue had versus what Hunter and Griffen had last year. 21 tackles compared to 11. 27 combined tackles versus 13. That is an alarming difference considering all 4 players had nearly identical snaps against the run.
Holy cow, we are really missing Hunter & Griffen. Ngakoue has been fine - better stats vs the run than expected, plus 4 sacks (there was a stat correction that gave Ngakoue 2 sacks vs Houston), and 2 FFs that the Vikings didn't fall on. I also wonder if he's worth the $18-20M a year he's looking for, but he's still a good player. The rest of these guys... woof!
I thought Johnson and Watts were better than this, but they've been simply terrible. Almost zero positive development for the D-line.
I am very concerned this weekend about what Carson is going to do to us, especially if Kendricks is out. His 33 tackles are over double the next highest on the team this year and we are already thin at linebacker.
He and Penny had big games against us last year, and we weren't this compromised ... yikes! I do believe Carson blew his ACL in that game last year.
