Super Bowl Discussion

Just think about how fortunate the Chefs were this year. Not only did they overcome 10+ point deficits in all 3 playoff games, but if Moore doesn't beat the Vikings, the Chefs are a wildcard team. If the Dolphins don't upset the Patriots in New England, the Chefs are a wildcard team. If the Titans don't upset the Ravens, the Chefs have to play the AFCCG in Baltimore, against Lamar. If Bill O'Brien goes for it on 4th down after the timeout like he was going to before the timeout ... or if Bill O'Brien doesn't try to fake a punt from his own 30 ... or if Bill O'Brien's parents decided not to have kids ...

Was hoping the Niners won, only to prove the Vikings were one of the best teams but the Niners were just great.
Couple of thoughts this morning.
Chiefs sold out to stop the run, this is the plan against the Niners. When you have a great offense, they stopped the soul sucking long drives and forced Jimmy G to beat them. He could not. Did not like the Niners play calling, would have just keep up the trickery and rammed the ball down the Chiefs throats. Used a few 1st down passes to keep the defense honest.
Game shows what a great QB can do, much like the last 15 years the path to the Super Bowl ran through NE, now it runs through Kansas City. It will take a great QB to beat that team on a regular basis for the next 10 years, only holdup in that they need a personnel man as good as Belicheck.

I'm just so glad that the Vikings are on the path to greatness, as evidenced by them losing not only to the Super Bowl winners, but also losing to the Super Bowl losers!  We are surely on the cusp of... something.

Like the GOAT, KC will have multiple chances to win it all the next few years.  Mahomes is now a level above all the QB's in the league. That is scary given the Andy Reid is a good coach.

Right? I still can't get the final 2 minutes of the first half out of my head. Chiefs 4th down, clock running, 49ers all 3 timeouts ... ummm why isn't he calling a timeout? I thought this guy was smart? Why is he running in the 1 minute drill? 19 seconds left, ohhh now he's trying to push the ball downfield? That's some clock management that only Zimmer could be proud of. It's also the moment I went from not caring who won, to leaning toward the Chiefs. Mainly because I get some satisfaction when stupidity gets punished xD. In hindsight, maybe Shanahan already knew Jimmy G was a fraud and didn't want to expose him before he had to? Whelp, his luck finally ran out, and man was that a train wreck.

You guys haven't been watching football long, or you have short memories. There have been a lot of team and players that people thought were going to be the next greatest thing and they just turned out to be one hit wonders. Dan Marino, Drew Bledsoe, Mike Vick, Goff to name a few. Panthers, Falcons, and Rams the latest teams we thought were up and coming dynasties. Mahomes is still on his rookie contract and if the Chiefs have to sell the farm to keep him around, that could send them back to mediocrity. His cap hit is only $5.2m next year. Rumors already suggest he'll be the first $200m man.

I thought maybe some smart ass snuck in and modified his wiki page, but nope, it's legit. We should have seen it coming. It's official, there's something in the Minnesota water that turns us soft and I'm just immune to it.
