yes but he's not advancing without better line play. look at the 2018 season. 10-6 season and lost wildcard game at dallas, and that was with healthy rbs. no one is questioning him being elite. everyone keeps saying that if we had a wison type qb we would be better but as great as he is he hasn't gotten past the divisional round since 2015 and wouldn't have gotten that far without blair walsh missing a easy kick.

My man at Over The Cap posted this great article about QB contracts and the effect they should have on a teams success or failure.
Illustrates why I hated the Kirk Cousins contract and why IMO Spielman should have been fired at the end of 2019 season.

I didn’t want to really even discuss the Chiefs salary cap since the fans of the team should get the chance to celebrate the accomplishments of the team before even caring about the future, but we can talk about the general concept of paying the quarterback and how people are over blowing the idea that salary paid to most of the players at the position keeps you from winning.

The problem in the NFL is when they pay the average QB as if he is a great QB. The salary sometimes creates the perception that the player is great. Matt Stafford, Derek Carr (and I was a big Carr guy so I fell into that camp), Jared Goff, Jimmy Garoppolo, Kirk Cousins, Jacoby Brissett, etc… are not great players, yet they all have been near the top of the market at some point and that feeds into the same market issues above.
These deals may hamstring a team because they over-rely on the expensive player only because he is expensive and in their case having the extra budget, whether cash or cap, to add other players is important. Garoppolo needs a lot of support. Overpaying that type of player puts you on an uneven playing field. The Mahomes level doesn’t need that level of support.

Healthy RBs were GB's kryptonite this year. They win that game if Carson starts in place of Lynch. Heck, they might have won if their 3rd string RB starts in place of Lynch. Dude had no business being on the football field.

how much draft capital can you spend on one position group? we've spent a 3rd, 2nd, 1st, 4th and several late round picks on lineman the past few drafts

couldnt possibly be the qb or skill positions, so its the lines fault.

This crap about him playing on some terrible Washington teams is just that, crap. He played on one bad Washington team in 2017. 2015 and 2016 were ideal offenses for a QB.

I'm 100% with whoskmoon on this.
In 2016 the Washington OL was 3rd best in pass protection and 6th best in run blocking.
That line featured the best LT Trent Williams along with Brandon Scherff,Spencer Long and Swan Lauvao.
Cousins had DeShaun Jackson,Pierre Garcon,Vernon Jackson and Jordan Reed to throw to.
The team went 8-7-1.
This notion that "The better the line the better the overall unit and thus team is" doesn't stack up when dealing with Cousins.
Even with one of the best O Lines in football Cousins couldn't make plays.

The Washington Redskins haven't won a playoff game since 2005 when Mark Brunell was their QB and Joe Gibbs was the coach. You can talk all you want about that wonderful 2016 OL Cousins played behind, but it doesn't change the fact the Redskins team as a whole have sucked for 14 years. They've had 14 QBs during that time span and not one, including Cousins, could've helped that sorry a$$ franchise win more games.

Yeah on paper we were loaded at almost every position, but that does not tell the whole story though.

- Injury plagued O line through out Kirks time here... Does not matter how many big name linemen we had if they are always injured.
- McVay, Shanahan, Lafleur... we wasted some of the best offensive minds today because of Jay Gruden, Bruce Allen and Danny Boy
- Skins teams who wanted to run the ball first but could not run even if they played a high school JV team
- Skins defense that let other teams score at will and could not stop anything. Teams set personal offensive records on our D almost every game
- Jay Gruden who would give up trying to run the ball minutes after the game started because the first few runs were unsuccessful
- Dan Snyder and his stooge Bruce Allen... enough said
- A very bad football culture for years now
- Selfish players with the me first attitude
- Jordan Reed and Josh Doctson - Their big toes hurt every year
- Josh Norman - Would rather be a TV star then actually play well
- A hostile environment in our own home stadium
- Players bad mouthing their fans on TV and other media
- Players bad mouthing the team and leadership

Yes Kirk threw a lot of Interceptions and cost us games, but what do you expect when the man has to win shoot outs every week were defenses would only play the pass against us since we could not run the ball ever. Even with all this Kirk was still able to produce, with 1 of these years he had 3 receivers right at 1000 yards each Jackson, Garcon and Crowder, and another year leading us to the playoffs where the whole team decided not to show up for the game in the 2nd half vs the Packers

Kirk played on some very dysfunctional Redskins teams while he was here. Its no wonder that no one wants to play for the Redskins or leaves this team as soon as possible
