Pete Carroll won the sb in his 4th year, Sean Payton in his 3rd year and Mike Tomlin in his 2nd year. They all won sb’s as hc. Zimmer has been the hc here for 6 years never won one. The odds he wins 1 next year I. His 7th year are not very good at all. This team will be worse next year than it was this year. I think he has peaked as well as spielman who has been here for 14 years. I just think that their teams will be who they have always been. Good but not great. I think if ever a time to rebuild and start anew for a chance to try to build a sb winner it will most likely be next offseason when their contracts as well as cousins is up. Don’t you think maybe there is a reason all their contracts end at the same time? This next year will be a huge year for all 3 as far as furthering their careers with the Vikings imo.
So, if a coach doesn't win a Super Bowl in his first few seasons (regardless of the roster they took over), they should be moved on from? Is that what we're rolling with here?
How do you feel about guys like Cowher and Reid? Regarded as one of the "biggest chokers" in NFL history, are you guys certain Reid has peaked? What if the Chiefs win the Super Bowl this year? Blows that nonsense right out the water, doesn't it?
I won't speak on Carroll or Payton, because they've done well, but regarding Tomlin ... the Steelers won the Super Bowl in February 2006 ... he took over in January 2007. He won the Super Bowl with Cowher's team. Speaking of Cowher, after many years of disappointing playoff losses, didn't his wild card team win the Super Bowl? So, did he peak before that? Has Reid peaked? Should he be given up on? What about a guy like Coughlin? There are plenty of recent examples of sticking with your guy, ya know, actually working out... So, again, how are we so sure Zimmer can't get over the hump?
But to get back to the earlier question, because guys like Carroll, Tomlin, and Payton haven't done anything lately, and have had plenty of years to build their teams the way that they see fit, should we also assume that they will never get over the hump again?
