Understood. It is another shot at Spielgod, but another one based on logical thinking, I would argue.

If Rhodes is the top CB, and hes suckinf all season. We invested a top 11 pick on Waynes and this is a scenario where, on paper, he would step in and cover their best guy.

But I haven't heard one person on here mention that as an option. Why is that?? You are too wise to play along, so I will state it plainly since you won't.

Waynes is not trusted. He is a bust. His only saving grace is that Xavier has gotten the brunt of the criticism this season. Otherwise, Waynes (for an 11th overall pick) would and should get just as much!

The tragedy of Rhodes is traditionally he's played his best against bigger receivers like Thomas, in ways that no other CBs in the league could (remember how well Xavier did vs Megatron?) but he's clearly having issues. As for Trae Waynes I've been enraged with him for most of his career, but this season has probably been his best. Not saying he's living up to potential or that he's a top guy, but for him playing the best. And in the CB crew's worst season so far, he's probably been the best out of that crap group. And unfortunately I think that means the Vikings re-sign him because we aren't in position to replace the entire group. I wouldn't have issue with Waynes covering Thomas, but typically Xavier has been on the #1 receiver and definitely when they're a bigger fella.

And if the Vikings themselves feel like that, the team with "nothing to lose" and no expectations can be incredibly dangerous. Just look at the Packers in 2016 that made it all the way to the NFC title game before the Falcons annihilated them and reminded everyone the Packers were merely playing beyond their means. If we play a pressure-free game, cut loose and unload on the Saints who knows what we can do this month!

I’m seeing this brought up a lot. I’m also seeing phrases like ‘anything can happen’ and ‘Playoffs can be random’ a lot. Phrases that don’t really mean anything and dismiss the overwhelming advantages New Orleans has over us in every aspect of the game.

History is replete with very talented sports teams that couldn't take that last step. I don't think many here are saying Zimmer is terrible, but some of us are questioning if he can lead the team to the next level after 6 seasons that suggest the answer is no. I've actually shared multiple things in this thread to offer people a little hope: film study, analysis, advanced statistics... People don't want to hear that right now! I'm almost convinced there are Vikings fans out there wanting to lose to be able to say, "I told you so!" and to continue to cry for change. Kind of a weird thing really. Advanced statistics show we are the most complete team in the playoffs. We're the ONLY team in the league this year to NOT lose to a team below .500 (all teams, even the great ones, have had BAD letdowns). We were also, what, a few plays away from 13-3 or 12-4? We finally have everyone healthy on offense (it's been a while), the defense (other than our CBs, *gulp*) is mostly healthy and rested up. Point is: We're SO CLOSE!!! Why not us?! If we play our game and take care of the football, we can compete with anyone. Yeah, we're going to have to have a nearly perfect game to beat the Saints, but this is the playoffs, most teams are going to be saying that moving forward.

This year feels different. I’ve never seen our fan base this down on our team heading into the playoffs. The curse of false hope is now broken, which gives me hope. I’ ve never felt more confident.

Remember when Brown in Philly talked smack about Cousins, how that turn out for him and the Eagles? I just have a feeling Cousins goes for 300 and 3tds. I feel alot better about this game for some reason. Maybe its the thought of sending Drew Brees and his birth mark home for the season or maybe the idea of Diggs, Thielen and Cook all healthy again but I'm liking our chances.
