It's bad enough we won't get the division, but our playoff spot is locked so we're fine in that respect. And it's also bad enough that the Packers are now NFC North champs of OUR division. these are all bad things. But here's the WORST part:
we may have handed the PACKERS TO THE SUPER BOWL. Forget about mathematical possibilities (they're not losing to detroit) let's be realistic and boil the playoffs to what it's really going to be. They're going to be the #1 seed or the #2 seed based on one game, the 49ers @ Seahawks.
If the Seahawks win AT HOME, the NFC West champ will be 12-4 and since the Pack has the tiebreaker over the Saints, the Packers would be the #1 seed. Seahawks have never beaten the Packers at Lambeau, and 41-year old Drew Brees in Lambeau in late January??? Packers could conceivably lose to SF at Lambeau, but the odds are certainly in favor of GB for the NFC title game en route to the Super Bowl. Ugh.
If the 49ers win ON THE ROAD, then the Packers will get the #2 spot (tie over NO). Here's the problem. because the Niners and Hawks are so evenly matched, in their Divisional round game, the odds are pretty fair that the Seahawks could win that game, which would knock the #1 seed out, and therefore the Packers would HOST the Seahawks at Lambeau in the NFC title game. Hawks have never won in Lambeau, thus Packers in the Super Bowl ...
In other words, thanks to the Vikings offense laying an egg on Monday night, the odds of the Packers HOSTING the NFC championship are sky high. And we will have played a pivotal role in the Packers in the Super Bowl ...
Hopefully the most probabable situation doesn't happen and the Niners roll through everyone, but the Packers have to be considered 1st or 2nd likliest to win the NFC now.
