Why are y'all using his lack of high OL selections as reason to defend him? The OL has been the sole, glaring weakness on our team since the Teddy days and Rick has consistently opted to address it via mid-round project draft picks (who always bust) and underwhelming free agents.

Teddy was under pressure at historic rates. Cousins last season was under pressure at a historic rate. I'm of the belief that protecting your QB is part of a winning formula. Spielman does not.

Please point out where I’m “defending Rick” for not addressing the OL? Read my very first post where I said it’s annoyed me for years he hasn’t addressed the OL.

We’re simply pointing out he hasn’t taken enough high round OL picks to determine if he’s good at evaluating the position or not. Need more data.

I already replied to it once... that I don't pay that close attention to front offices of others teams (all the moves they're making for their team).... but have very high confidence that if I did the research, I could very easily find 10.... I just don't want to waste my time in researching it..... sorry

Maybe you could take some time to research and learn instead of taking all this time to constantly rip Spielman for “issues” that every GM has.

which good OL has he brought in since he's been our GM? Can you name some?

I'll give you O'Neil (though most Vikings fans, prematurely, proclaim him to be top 5... if not with those exact words, then by their regard for him)... but he is a very promising looking young starter nonetheless.

The fact that they do not use high picks on offensive linemen is not a defense of spielman. That is an indictment and tells where the priorities for the Vikings, zimmer, and spielman

Unfortunately that isn’t how sample sizes work. We can’t just selectively dismiss mid round misses as ‘dart throws’ or ‘lottery picks’. Especially when some of these mid round OL’s have played significant snaps for us like Elf currently and TJ in the past. At that point aren’t they just selections?

Love O’Neill. Dude is a baller. Wish it didn’t take 3+ different QB’s and a myriad of awful OL’s over the course of 4 seasons to find him.

No clearly Rick needs a few more stabs at 1st and 2nd round OL prospects before we know if he can scout properly or not.

Since he's been GM he's used 3 top 60 picks on OL. That's it. Kalil, whose knee exploded. O'Niell, who's trending in the right direction. And Bradbury.

So I'm not sure how anyone can claim he's bad at drafting OL. He's simply not taken enough with 1/2/3rd round picks to know one way or the other.
