I see some talk about going younger on the "reload", but lets keep in mind the lame duck status of Rick and Zim. If they're not going to be around to develop any young talent they acquire, why acquire younger talent? Based on these coaching moves, I think the roster moves are going to go about the same way, we'll go after some aging vets who can help us win this year.
I don't know what our salary cap situation is though, so that might not be a viable option either. They have to do something though because if they stick with what we have, it's just going to be more of the same, and they're all going to be out the door sooner than later.
I only seeing us going young if both Rick and Zim get extensions before free agency is upon us.
Quite a few posts don't seem to be taking into account the first point you brought up, and I can't help but think that it's because they're assuming that your last "if" point (extensions for SpielZim) is actually a "when".
If Spielman has a mandate to wring everything he can out of one last hurrah for this core in 2020, it will likely set the franchise back in 2021 and beyond, and also probably be a disappointment.
If Spielman is approaching next season with the understanding that he's the GM until the Wilfs finally figure out he's a dead end, then 2020 could be the start of a rebuild/retool/rewhatever that our current GM shouldn't be handling.
There's no precedent for Spielman to lead the team to the Super Bowl at this point, and I just don't see the Wilfs as trail-blazing ownership innovators who've discovered a completely new blueprint to build a franchise that plays in the last game of the season
