Kirk Cousins - Extension?

I made this chart to illustrate the stupidity of paying Kirk Cousins a fully guaranteed contract.I commented that at the time it was signed it was a dumb idea,and if the Vikings choose to double down and do another fully guaranteed deal then IMO ownership and the front office have no clue how to go about building a roster to win a championship.

There has been much discussion in this and other threads about how rival teams pay their QBs big salaries but can still build a winning roster.When you look at the chart and see the cap hit compared to the SB record,both Cousins and Wentz have not participated and both Goff and Ryan have one appearance for a loss.
However when you compare the percentage of cap hit for those four players,one thing stands out.While Goff,Wentz and Ryan earn slightly more than Cousins,the cap hit for Cousins is way more in line with the players that have actually won a Super Bowl.The reason for this is that Goff,Wentz and Ryan have smaller base salary and earn the bulk of their money in bonus or incentive payments.By fully guaranteeing Cousins contract,all the money has to be paid in base salary which hurts the teams ability to spend in other areas.

IMO,if Kirk Cousins pushes for another fully guaranteed deal it is nothing more than greed and ego,with no desire to win anything,and the Vikings should have the gumption to tell him to find the door and keep walking.

With the game on the line, I would take every single one of those QB's over Kirk to have the ball in his hands and that says a lot.

Both went 1-1 in the playoffs but let's look at Cousins the last 2 years vs Keenum the last two years. Cousins has won some big games while Case has continued to lose games over & over. I get Keenum had a big year with us but when you look at his career before '17 & after '17 you see that Keenum is really just a good #2 that excelled in Shurmur's offense.

I never understood the hangup some have had with cousins contract being fully guaranteed. His per year average is and has been in line with other top ten qbs. Some of you equate expectations with salary and will argue it endlessly. Here are things that cant be argued. Cousins led us to the playoffs and won a road playoff game. Does that mean he has earned another contract with the team? At this point im still not sure but im willing to bet the team has already made that decision.

I didn't "purposely" do anything.I used the players whose contracts are closest to Cousins in terms of AAV and to not complicate the chart just used salary from the last completed season.
How stupid it was for the 49ers to not have the foresight to know Garopolo would injure himself in 2018 

Regardless,the 49ers have taken the hit in one year and can easily get out of the contract should they choose.

It may be because just saying "there is always a better option than X", but never identifying who that better option is makes it impossible for you to be proven wrong.

If Kyle Sloter ever so much as takes a snap next year, I have been proven wrong because I said (and meant) it won't happen. Does my saying it make it any more or less likely? No. But, it puts me on record and allows people to have some record of reliability when it comes to my opinion.

When you spout off that this X and that Y are better than this A and that B, but never identify what X and Y are? Well, you can't prove an unknown any more than you can prove a dispositive, so why would anyone place any stock in what you are saying.
