How many QBs were drafted before Jackson? I dont feel like looking it up.

My philosophy with the draft has always been.... there are great picks to be made at just about any slot.... the key is having a good GM who will have the right scouts and coaches in place. And then ultimately make the right decision on who to draft based on your team's unique mix of system/locker room/etc.

Most didnt want to touch Jackson, but DeCosta identified him as a guy who would fit their scheme... props to him for a good pick which has led to his team winning games and being the leader for #1 seed. HFA and 1st round bye... ahead of Brady and Belichik.

To think Louisville pumped out Teddy & Jackson, two QBs that didn't blow the scouts away but were both picked 32 and have both shown they can win in the NFL. We can all agree that Jackson is the better QB but to think how lucky Louisville got getting these two guys, i thought once Teddy left they would struggle a bit but then this skinny Jackson kid came in and held his own and i was like ok they have a athletic kid but to see him go from a runner to a QB has been cool. Didn't follow them too close but kept a eye on them and liked what I've saw.

Give Baltimore credit for what they're doing, because they're kicking @$$ and looking great doing it. However, I don't think it's quite as you're suggesting. Jackson had significant issues last season. Marty Mornhinweg was canned, and Greg Roman took over. The same Greg Roman who helped Kaepernick look good. Coincidence?

They also said the Ravens spent the ENTIRE OFFSEASON changing up the offense/scheme to fit Jackson. That's why he looks so much better. Yes, a good coaching staff does that. Props to them. But, no, they didn't draft a guy who fit their scheme. Quite the opposite, actually. They had to fire their OC to make it all work. I highly doubt that was all just part of the plan.

When did DeCosta take over as GM? Is he allowed to form his own coaching staff? Or is he required to continue with the one he inherited for many years?

Perhaps moringwhag fit ozzie's vision/philosophy on the offensive side of the ball, but not Eric's.

I stand by my view that Jackson was 100% Eric's pick. How incredibly poor taste would it be for ozzie to pick a franchise QB for the new GM? "Here is abparting gift... now you're stuck with the QB I want, not the QB you want..."

And I do not think it is a coincidence they've changed stuff up to fit their new GM's vision.

Newsome retired at the end of the 2018 season. I imagine DeCosta had some freedom to mix things around, hence why Roman was made the OC.

I can believe DeCosta had a big part in the trade up and selection to get Lamar since he was Newsome's right hand man, but it was still Ozzie's call. That's not to take credit away from DeCosta, as their franchise has brilliantly morphed the offense to match Lamar's skills perfectly. He deserves plenty of credit.

For now. Until he blows out a knee, Achilles or a hamstring. Once that happens, if he can't sit back and pass in the pocket, his career will be as long as RG3's. Who I believe is he backup.

WC team and one and done in the playoffs versus a first round bye and competing for a SB. It is HUGE.

Well yeah, but we could probably win 14 a season with Case Keenum if the defense never gave up more than 18 a game. If our QB needs that from his defense to beat good teams we will never win it all.

He had chances in all 3 of those games against winning teams to win it, and he failed to do so. An elite QB would have won at least 2 of those games, Cousins came up short.
