Your beef is with Rick and Zygmunt not me and Kirk. The fiction I read here and elsewhere about Kirk is just that--fantasies used to express/disguise hate for him. I think psychologists call it misplaced anger.
No amount of hating Kirk or making up stories about him is going to change the direction this franchise has chosen. It is defense/run game in a pass happy era, an above average but not world class qb behind a wreck of an oline, and a coach whose brain is stuck back in 1987.
There would be less frustration if they weren't heading into year 8 of the same old thing without significantly altering course. But remember that ownership makes public statements about their belief in continuity--continuity wins championships is what they think.
They originally 16 years ago said their model for this alleged title-winning strategy was the NY Giants. But since the continuity-rich Giants have mostly sucked for a decade, they have switched to the Steelers in their p.r. releases.
Sadly, the reason for the Steelers' success is not their continuity, it is their ability to identify the right people to run their organization, going so far as to snatch their HC out from under Wilf's nose.
You can have continuity when you have good people and those people can adapt to changes in the landscape of the NFL over time. The continuity is a byproduct, not a causal factor as Wilf believes.
And since Wilf's worst attribute has been his inability to identify the right people, he puts the team in the trap of chasing continuity like it's a goal, and keeping people around to pursue it who can't succeed.
And those people overpay for the likes of Kirk, burn up their draft capital on cb's who don't stick, spend too much on the defensive side of the ball, make dumb moves like the Ngakoue deal, can't fix the oline for years on end, and generally leave fans in a sort of perpetual agony.
But I digress...and I'm sorry everyone thinks it's all Kirks fault lol. I guess that's good cover for Rick and Mike's next contract extension request--"It wasn't us Zygi, it was all Kirks fault"! "Oh well here have more years/money on me--Continuity!"
The other fiction is that being a pass happy team with the QB we have is the right way to go. I have provided pages of statistical evidence that proves being pass happy with a QB of Cousins' caliber is a good way to lose games. You have provide opinions with nothing to back them up.
Fiction #3 is that you can win it all with a QB of Cousins' caliber without a great defense after watching Cousins fail to win more than 9 games with anything short of a top 10 D. Cousins isn't winning a shootout in the playoffs, and if you want to get to the SB you better shut down every team you face. We need a great D to carry the QB who's contract makes it almost impossible to get one.
Finally, you essentially make the argument that you cannot be mad at Kirk or complain about him because Rick and Zimmer are bigger problems. By that logic this board would be people complaining about the HC and GM all the time with no other discussion warranted. No talk about how the Oline sucks, no complaints about the secondary, the kicker is off the table and talking about the failures of the QB is just "whining".
Buddy, you can complain about Kirk all you want, since that's like 90% of your posts here anyways lol.
What holds this team back is not Kirk's contract, it's the guys who run the team.
