Good question.
I am also too lazy to do the math, but Saints, Packers, Seattle, and MN are the only teams in serious contention to compete for a SB who are paying their QBs top 10 money. The Saints are by far the most complete of those teams, while the Packers and Seattle would not be very good teams without their starting QB.
After those 4, SF is under that 10% and Baltimore and KC have QBs under rookie contracts. Dallas is technically a playoff team and has a QB on a rookie contract, TN is actually paying a lot for a starter to sit on the bench as are the Steelers. Buffalo has a rookie QB as well. Tom Brady is being paid over 7 million less this year than our QB.
4 playoff teams with QBs on rookie contracts (technically 5 with Mariotta on his 5th year), one underpaid GOAT, one QB who is making what teams should be paying their QBs this year (Jimmy G.), 3 QBs that are elite and Cousins.
(Figures courtesy of OTC)
1 Kirk Cousins $29m
2 Aaron Rodgers $26.5M
3 Russell Wilson $26.286M
4 Drew Brees $22.7M
5 Tom Brady $21.5M
6 Jimmy Garoppolo $19.85M
7 Carson Wentz $8.394M
8 Josh Allen $4.814M
9 Patrick Mahomes $4.48M
10 Deshaun Watson $3.778M
11 Lamar Jackson $2.153M
12 Ryan Tannehill $2.225M
Rodgers cap hit is now $29.53 Million. Higher than Cousins. He has also made $223 million during his time with the Packers. They should be going to more Super Bowls.
Jimmy G made $37 million last year for 3 games.
But yeah, let's take a snapshot of who get's paid what this year. Because that matters how they play.
