What does next season have to do with benching him this season?
Waynes is giving up more TDs and yards than Rhodes. If Rhodes should be benched, so should Waynes, right?
I do think your response highlights what people's real problem is with Rhodes and how he is watched under a different magnification than any other CB on the team. Not to defend him, he is having a bad season, I just get sick of reading and hearing how he is terrible while Waynes plays worse and we don't hear a peep.
Zimmer. It has taken him 2 awful years to bench Rhodes. Rhodes was expected to be a cornerstone. Wayne's is done after this year. That will take care of itself. We still habe the issue with Rhodes under contract.
I have stated I wish both young guys would be starting. They may be all that's left in 2020 may as well see what they have on the outside.
Waynes worse I don't know about worse and the expectations are different regardless if you like it or not. Rhodes the highest paid DB we have so he should be held in a higher standard. Just like Kirk or Hunter or Barr. There are many guys that aren't earning there contracts but few are a constant liability and being paid more to be.
Rhodes wasn't terrible last year. Not even close.
35 YPG and 2 TDs and 2 Ints.
This year he is actually playing poorly, in particular his last two starts were pretty bad. After two actual bad starts, not perceived bad ones, Zimmer made a move.
When deciding when to bench someone versus not should have nothing to do with how much a player is making. Who is the better CB? Right now, against the pass Rhodes is better than Waynes. Waynes is better against the run. Which one should be starting?
