If I slow the video speed down to 0.75 I can actually understand the lyrics xD.
And you still defend him lol? Drew Sleaze is as good as Drew Sleaze and it's still not good enough to fill the trophy case. He's only sniffed the Super Bowl once the past 10 years. Same with Rodgers. That only tells me a guy like Special Ted is facing incredible odds and that maybe we should probably do what we can to improve the position. Improve the position, increase the odds?
That's about it though, and unfortunately capable isn't good enough odds to help you fill the trophy case in this league. Capable is good enough if you're content with competing for the 6th seed every year, but that only gets you the 1-and-done package. We need players that can help us secure a first round bye on a regular basis. That's something that would greatly increase our odds of winning one of those shiny trophies.
Yeah it's probably not the best strategy to dump all that money into a mid tier QB like we did lol. Although he's playing a bit better than mid tier this year. But we'd have to look at the data. How many mid tier QB's have won a Lombardi lately? I would argue the Cowboys have a solid OL with a mid tier QB, but that's not exactly working out for them. Foles, Flacco, and Eli have won Bowls in the past 10 years, so I guess it's possible. More often than not it takes an elite caliber QB who has some clutch in him though. I think Cousins could reach elite status, he has the physical talent, but he's sorely lacking in the clutch department, as are the Vikings as a franchise. Not a good combo.
Although I think it's a bit of a stretch to put Teddy B in the mid tier category of QB's at this point. He doesn't play like a mid tier QB until you surround him with enough talent. What made those other 3 guys good the year they brought home the hardware was the fact that they weren't afraid to take shots, push the ball downfield, and they were coincidentally in the zone during their playoff runs. Man were they ever in the zone lol. All 3 were playing out of their minds those years. That's how hard it is to win some hardware. We have yet to see Teddy find that zone. I know he went 5-0 just recently, and against some pretty good competition, but it's such a small sample size. Plus it's an entirely different thing to come off the bench with no expectations and play relaxed. He had nothing to lose. When you're a starter and suddenly have a ton of expectations, it's going to affect you a bit more. Foles is that kind of guy.
Depends on who the fan is lol. When you do the research, you quickly find out what it takes to win in this league. You have to be aggressive on both sides of the ball. You have to take chances. You have to push the ball downfield. You have to blitz. Obviously it helps to have the talent too lol. The Bengals aren't suddenly going to turn into playoff caliber team just by suddenly getting more aggressive. And too many coaches in this league seem to be unaware of that fact because so many of them are playing scared. Zimmer has yet to learn that, and the only question is, will he? The Vikings have the talent, but it's being hamstrung by scared coaching. Release the hounds Zimmer!
The Patriots always play aggressively, and when you look at all the other teams that make a surprise run every year. What do they have in common? They're uncharacteristically aggressive that year and catch their opponents napping. The Ravens are doing it this year. The clues are there, and it's backed up by data. Even Teddy plays his best when he pushes the ball downfield, the problem is, he crawls back into his shell far too often.
To be fair, after doing the research, I now blame Zimmer for why Teddy played so timidly when he was here. Zimmer was in his head. It's a pattern I've seen with all our QB's. Their most conservative seasons have come under Zimmer, and compared to the rest of the NFL, Zimmer has had some of the most conservative QB play since 2014.
Teddy has been a little more aggressive with the Saints. That fact combined with being surround with more talent, and a smarter offensive mind like Payton, it's why Teddy was able to go 5-0. But you can't just bring Teddy back to Minnesota and expect similar results. We might have better talent now than when he was here last, but we still have play it safe Zimmer. Who trust me, is going to cost us more close games going forward with his play it safe attitude.
I'm convinced that's why we lose most of our close games, Zim gets scared, and becomes more worried about putting players in a position to make a mistake that leads to a loss than he does about trying to win the game. You can see him try to slow the game down, hoping the other team makes a mistake first. It never happens, and it becomes death by 1000 paper cuts. Again if you look at the data, the NFL in general is making fewer and fewer mistakes every year. INT's and lost fumbles have declined every year for the past 50 years. It's such a failed strategy to sit back waiting for your opponent to make a mistake because teams just aren't making that many mistakes anymore. You either gotta get more aggressive and force them into a mistake, or you gotta get aggressive on offense and just win the game.
If Zimmer would just grow a pair and unleash the hounds more often, I think we'd win more of these games. Sure we'll most likely lose a few of them by making a mistake too, but overall I think it would be a net gain in the wins department. It's like having a more aggressive QB. They're most likely going to throw more INT's than the game manager, but they're capable of making up for those INT's by leading you on a lot more scoring drives. You just gotta hope it's not as bad as Jameis Winston lol.
The bottom line is, you're not going to fill the trophy case playing conservatively. You're just not. You gotta take chances, and that's my biggest beef with a coach like Zimmer and a QB like Teddy. If the goal is to fill the trophy case, I'm not saying you can't do it with those guys, but it's just not very likely given what I know. I just want the Vikings to do whatever they can to increase those odds. If that means switching to a different flavor of Gatorade, then do it.
Championship mindset, which is doing every little thing even if it only increases your chances of winning by 0.00001%. DO IT!!! Eat, sleep, and breathe championship mindset. And I'm talking about the team, not the fans lol. Doing whatever we were doing in the 4th quarter against Atlanta, IS NOT the championship mindset. That's quitter ball. Doesn't matter if you're going to win anyway. That's not the point. Never EVER take yourself out of the championship mindset, which is what you do when you finish the way we finished in that Atlanta game. I'm convinced that's why we got off to such a slow start against Green Bay the following week. They got complacent, and probably thought they were better than they were because of how they steamrolled Atlanta for 3 quarters. That wouldn't happen if Zimmer kept the momentum rolling through all 4 quarters. He's gotta teach his players to play all 4 quarters regardless of the situation.
We're talking about big dumb football players after all, most of them with child-like minds, and they do in fact need to be constantly reminded to keep their head in the game. They're young, make a lot of money, and have a lot of distractions off the field. Coach has to keep them focused on the prize, and the prize isn't beating Atlanta week 1, it's winning a Lombardi. Did that 4th quarter do anything to help us win a Lombardi? Didn't think so. Could we have worked on anything in that 4th quarter that could have helped us prepare for a future opponent? Yes!! Even if it meant giving Mannion some reps. That could have helped us. It was a wasted opportunity.
Name a single moment during the '85 Bears season where they came out of the championship mindset? They never coasted on anyone no matter how bad they were beating someone. They sent a message to their opponents that year, and you're a damn fool if you think it didn't give them an extra advantage being inside the heads of their opponents before they even took the field.
Think about it from the trap game POV. Think how great it would be if the Packers were so worried about playing us week 16 that it caused them to lose to Washington last week or the Bears this week. THAT'S what I'm talking about. You can't reach that level of intimidation by rolling over on Atlanta in the 4th quarter and allowing them to have their way with you for 15 minutes. No! You end that sh*t. You make them your b*tch and finish them 41-0. WTF is 28-12? 28-12 doesn't worry anyone or lead to trap games, but 41-0 grabs your attention.
Not to mention how those kinds of finishes cause you to be 15th in total defense instead of top 5. Ain't nobody worried about a 15th ranked defense. They get a little more worried when they see top 5 though don't they? They're not looking at the context of how you ended up 15th or how you COULD be top 5. We probably would be top 5 if we finished blowouts like the Patriots instead of giving up all the garbage yards. Guess who has the #1 defense? The Patriots. Surprise surprise. Because they don't roll over when they're beating the snot out of you. They finish you off, and that's why it's led to many trap games for them over the years.
Everyone is impressed with how many teams the Patriots have beaten on the field, but nobody looks at how many they've beaten the week before when their next opponent was playing someone else, but busy looking ahead to their meeting against the Patriots. That's some 4D chess right there and BB is the only one playing it.
What was the topic again lol? Wow did I go off on a tangent there. Forgive me, some people get blacked out drunk, I tend to get blacked out writing sometimes. Things just pop into my head and they end up flowing through my fingers. I have not control over it. Looks like pure gold and worth the read however. Solid points Reign, solid points.
Teddy was never going to be the next Drew Sleaze
but he was capable
part of me still wishes we had a mid tear QB and dumped that 84 million into the f*cking O line.

But what do the fans know, right?
