Is that good enough to win it all? If it isn't, and winning a SB is important to you, moving on is the only solution. If always at least hovering around 500 and blowing out bad teams is important to you, by all means, extend the guy.
I've basically given up on seeing a Viking SB win. I've personally watched them lose the big one four times. It's just math. The Government, insurance companies and doctors tell me I can plan to be on this earth "x" more years. I've rooted for the Vikings for "y" years now. Unfortunately, "x" is about half the value of "y," and dropping every year. That said, I would rather hover around 500 and blow out bad teams than suck bad enough to be able to draft a QB in the top five. That was a recipe for a super bowl win about five times. I'm thinking Mannings, Elway and probably a couple more I don't remember right now. OTOH, getting lucky with a developmental guy in rounds 2 through 6 can work on occasion. That's the approach I would prefer. Keep Cousins, draft a developmental guy every couple of years and move on from Kirk when we hit pay dirt on a young, cheap guy. Chances of success are small, but not much different than going all in on a high first round guy (see Trubisky, Mariotta, Winston, etc.).
