Well, 6-2 through the first half, not to toot my own horn...but, this is where I had them pegged. In all fairness, I thought the losses would be at Chicago, at Detroit, so I didn't get everything right.
Anyway...first half awards! MVP, OPOTY, DPOTY, OROTY, DROTY...if you don't know the acronyms, you will soon:
Most Valuable Player: Dalvin Cook RB. I could go on and on about this, but, he's on a pace for 2100 yards from scrimmage and 18 TDs. As good as Cousins has been the last few weeks, he wouldn't have done without Cook fueling the running game.
Offensive Player Of The Year:. Kirk Cousins QB. Kirk Cousins leads the league in passer rating. Kirk Cousins LEADS the league in passer rating. Now, like I said, Cook is the straw that stirs the drink in the offense, but, what Cousins has done in October is absolutely outstanding. 1262 yards, 10tds to 1 int that wasn't even his fault. Also, if Alexander Mattison was the Vikings number 1 back-the running game would still be good, if not outstanding. If Sean Mannion were the QB...
Defensive Player Of The Year: Anthony Barr. By a nose over Danielle Hunter and Eric Kendricks, but 1.5 sacks, 4 TFL, an interception, a fumble recovery. We needed big plays from Barr, and we have got them. Hunter and Kendricks have been great too. Basically, any starter not in the secondary can post a claim. I go with Barr.
Offensive Rookie Of The Year: Alexander Mattison, RB. Simply put, he has provided more punch than Latavius Murray did and has kept the running game moving without a hitch when Cook needs a breather. He has 331 yards rushing that would be close to 400 without Pat Elflein holding penalties. Bisi Johnson is my second, Smith third.
Defensive Rookie Of The Year: I believe Kris Boyd is the only guy to log any snaps so...by default. Congratulations?
Let's hear it from everyone else.
