But seriously, I like McVay. I like him a lot. BUT, let's quit crowning these "offensive geniuses." Let's just stop! And the red flags were there with McVay having to hold Goff's hand. Goff isn't that great; he's just not. He might be someday, but he's not now. And that contract was a huge overpay. What a disaster!

I really think it's due to the NFL's ability to adapt to new trends incredibly quickly. Innovation is nice, but it goes out of fashion fast because there's a lot of smart coaches on the other side of the ball as well.

I hope the Packers, Cardinals, and Bengals are happy with their HCs who were all hired thanks to being antiquated with McVay!

Someone is going to think "I can fix Jameis Winston!" And offer him a contract. That will be the biggest mistake of their lives. He hasn't improved even a little bit since he came into the league. Still throwing really stupid INTs.

Yeah, somebody probably will. He's got the arm and he has shown the ability to have great chemistry with his WRs, and he's even a decent scrambler. With that talent, you can imagine there's going to be a coach who thinks he can coach up his poor decisions.

I, for one, wouldn't mind Winston sticking around because he's been great for fantasy football. Dude racks up garbage time point like there's no tomorrow!

Yeah Winston is one of those exceptions to the rule when it comes to aggressive passing being the more successful strategy. He's very aggressive when it comes to pushing the ball downfield, but yeah wow it hasn't led to good results for him. Perhaps he's too aggressive? Zimmer could fix that. *whistle*

if sitting and watching something versus actually doing it made a person great at it, Reignman would be the next Ron Jeremy.

Deshaun Watson finished his rookie year with a 103 passer rating. He finished his sophomore season with a 103.1 passer rating. 10 games into 2019, he currently has a 103.3 passer rating giving him a career passer rating of 103.1.

This is nothing but hot air. He holds people to a higher standard than anyone else? How do you even measure that? And what are his teammates supposed to say lol? So despite being such an amazing leader, he's a statistical setback to Luck. Luck went 4-5 partly because he didn't have Marlon Mack for most of early part of the season last year. With Mack the Colts went 6-1 down the stretch and beat the Texans in the playoffs.

My criticism of Luck was based entirely on what I knew at the time. Which was him quitting at the 11th hour leaving the Colts with few options. Why didn't he quit much sooner? Did he forget how bad injuries were until preseason? I thought this guy was intelligent? And Brissets only body of work at the time was not good at all. A 4-11 campaign with the Colts in 2017 where his numbers were sub Teddy.

He's exceeded my expectations however. The Colts would most likely be in better shape right now with Luck, but Jacoby has them in better shape than I thought he would have had at this point. I didn't have the Colts over .500 this year, and definitely not making the playoffs. And right now, barring a heroic late 4th quarter drive here, the Colts will fall to 2nd place and 6-5, so that's still a possibility. They're lucky the AFC is awful this year, so even if they don't win the South they still have a good shot at the 6th seed.

I still think he's an average at best QB. A good game manager who protects the ball. Not the type who's going to win you more than 10 games or take you deep into the playoffs though. He's a stop gap who will get the Colts through to their next franchise guy.

Luck had 26 TDs in the first 9 games last year? Dang! Passing TDs are fun but they aren't the end all be all. Luck did like to throw a decent amount of picks each year.

This roster is borderline Super Bowl-caliber, and they're still pretty good even enough they went from a top 5-10 QB to an average one.

Fair enough. Even if he's average, that's still a pretty rare thing these days with injured and ineffective QBs running rampant this season. And that earns a lot of cash these days!!

Well don't tell Funkytown then, but that's probably why they even have a shot at the playoffs haha. Mack has been a beast. But no that just makes my point about Brissett. If the rest of the roster is "borderline Super Bowl-caliber" and they're only sitting here at 6-5 on the outside of the playoff bubble looking in, what does that say about their QB? Maybe he is in fact still that 4-12 guy from 2017? To be fair, Hoyer lost 2 of those games (Steelers and Dolphins), not that Brissett gave them that much better of a shot.

Like I said, Jacoby is a good game manager who takes care of the ball, which is why the Colts don't get blown out and have been in every game to the wire. They also don't blow anyone out, except Jacksonville last week when they had 2 guys rush for over 100 yards, while Jacoby Bridgewater plodded along for 148 yards and a TD. The Colts pretty much have their very own circa 2014-2015 Mediocre Bridgewater.

Given the rest of their schedule, which consists of teams that can't make up their minds about showing up on any given Sunday, it's difficult to say how the Colts will finish, but they'd have to go 4-1 to finish 10-6. I'll give them 9-7 at best, which lucky for them will be good enough to take the 6th seed. But they could easily go 8-8 too and miss the playoffs. They're 1-and-done anyway, not that Luck was a good playoff QB himself. 4-4 with a 12/13 TD/INT ratio.

Luck probably would have had them at 12-4 though, if he didn't quit and he managed to stay healthy. Once he committed to the offseason, I think he should have finished the season. He owed the Colts that much. He should have toughed it out because think about what the Colts gave up to draft him. Possibly a Super Bowl or 2. Manning was still good enough to take the Broncos to 2 Super Bowls and win one. That's what they gave up for Luck, and then he turned around and left them hanging without ever sniffing a Super Bowl for them.

His excuse about the pain being unbearable makes no sense to me. It was unbearable in 2017, and 2018, and he knows he plays a position that puts him at risk of facing more unbearable pain, so why did it take him so long to figure out that he could no longer put himself through it? Did he think this year would be different? And I'm expected to believe he's the only QB who has to endure some pain lol? I think he might be the mentally weakest QB I've ever seen. At least I don't remember any other QB punking out on a season at the last minute before. Look how beat up Favre was after that '09 NFCCG, and yet he sucked it up and probably would have played in the Super Bowl with that swollen ankle and cracked ribs ... had we not had 12 guys in the huddle.
