Sloter To Move On To ... ???

I thought I was comparing QB's to QB's.

Let me try a new approach here. Using your own 2 eyes, and your own opinion, what hasn't Sloter shown you that leads you to believe he doesn't deserve a shot at the next level? We've seen him master everything he's been asked to master thus far, but you trust the powers that be? Based on what? The point of me pointing out all those other QB's was to show you how often they're wrong, and sometimes criminally wrong. Apples and oranges have nothing to do with it.

And that's probably why the trophy case is empty around here. Too many people looking at the rule rather than the exception. Innovation wins in this league, not doing what everyone else is doing. Especially when the exception has mastered the only level he was asked to master and then wasn't asked to advanced to the next level before being shown the door. What if we kept him, he continued to suck at practice, but then also continued to master the next level of competition when it mattered, on the football field? What's more important, participation trophies in practice, or winning football games?

What's baffling is people who have watched Sloter play for 5 years and still coming to the conclusion that yep, we don't need to see what this guy can do at the next level. The franchise with the empty trophy case that I've dedicated my life to following has clearly done everything right the past 58 years, especially at the QB position, so there's no reason not to trust them lol. Baffling!

Ok here's the thing. It might not matter to you or I, or the coaches, or the players who are already on the team, but it sure as hell matters to the 22 players who are out there fighting for a job. As I pointed out in the Sloter thread. If 3rd string preseason football is so easy and meaningless, like those 3rd stringers aren't even trying, where are all the other Sloters putting up 120 QB ratings? Why do so many scrub QB's struggle at that level if it's so easy? And how do coaches determine which of them get a spot on the active roster?

And how's that working out for the Vikings anyway? When Tjack and Ponder were still here in their 3rd year, was that the deepest our roster could get? What has this franchise ever done that has given so many of you so much confidence in their ability to get the QB position right lol? After watching them kick a prospect out the door who did nothing but consistently put up a 120 QB ratings for 3 years without seeing what he could do at the next level? And when describing Sloter, please try to use what you saw with your own 2 eyes, and not what you think Zimmer saw in practice. Zimmer the guy who hasn't gotten anything right at the QB position, or on the offensive side of the ball in 6 years.

And who pray tell projected him to go in the 6th round and why? And then what changed? Do the 32 teams scout and think for themselves or how'd everyone get it wrong?

Wrong! The Broncos QB cupboard was full when they tried to sneak Sloter on the practice squad. Why did the Vikings steal him? What did they see? Why did they pay more than the going rate to retain him? Why did Elway regret losing him? And then why did all that change when Sloter put up 2 more preseasons similar to the one that made everyone take notice of him to begin with?

There aren't enough people around here forming their own opinions based on what they saw on the football field, and too many people thinking the way they've been told to think. There's no way anyone with a sound mind can come away thinking it was the best move to cut Sloter after they saw what he did when it mattered, and before we could see what he could do at the next level PERIOD! How is that acceptable?

And that's my entire argument with Sloter. Everyone is coming at me with their straw men that I'm claiming he's the next Tom Brady, when all I've ever asked for is to see what he could do at the next level, after watching him obliterate the only level he had been asked to compete at for 3 years. This is 2+2 common sense, and all the Sloter haters are like, well the Vikings said 2+2=potato so it must be potato. Never mind what I saw with my own eyes, it must be potato because they said so, and clearly we can trust them because they've always gotten it right.

What gymnastics? The only thing I've ever said was Sloter has mastered the only thing he's ever been asked to do, which is an objective fact. And my only expectations were to see how he'd do at the next level. You won't exactly find out if a guy is good enough to be a backup QB for your team if you never let him try will you? So again, what gymnastics? What am I missing? Who disagrees with any of that?

Meanwhile Teddy was incapable of mastering the level he had been asked to master, another objective fact. There was no evidence he was ever going to help us win any hardware. Did you see any? Where? A slight regression from year 1 to 2. Never a good sign. Then the freak knee injury? I'm still not seeing any gymnastics here.

And I know what you're thinking, because you Sloter haters have a one track mind and are easy to predict. B-b-but Reign, the level Teddy had been asked to master was much higher than the one Sloter was asked to master. Bingo! Walked right into my trap because you guys never pay attention to what I say. Too busy building all the straw men of my arguments.

So lets play a little game of pretend to maybe hopefully once and for all get my point across about Sloter for all the reading/comprehension impaired out there. Lets say Sloter does get his shot at the next level and he fails. What do you suppose that would do to my opinion of him? Exactly! Do you get it yet?

Sometimes I troll about Sloter being the next Brady and watching you guys take the bait because that's a whole lot more fun than pounding my face against a wall. It's like OMG, how many times do I have to repeat my actual argument?

Now lets examine some real gymnastics. I'm still waiting for the Sloter haters to explain to me the evidence they saw with their own 2 eyes that told them he didn't earn a shot at the next level. I'll wait. Been waiting for a couple years now in fact. I stopped holding my breath though. So c'mon on guys, put the big boy panties on, think for yourselves for once, and explain it to me. You saw him play with your own 2 eyes and for some reason came to the conclusion that he didn't earn a shot at the next level all on your own? B-b-but practice a-a-and Zimmer a-a-and 32 teams. Just a slight contradiction in what you saw with your own 2 eyes and how he's now being snubbed isn't there? With all the sh*tty QB play happening around the league? How do you reconcile all that? Oh to just go along with the establishment? No questions asked? No Reign, they got it right this time, cuz reasons.

Another straw man about how I think Sloter is already good enough to start coming in 3 ... 2 ...

I don’t think there’s anyone else in the world who’s typed more words about Kyle Sloter than Reignman. Dude, you know I don’t read your huge paragraphs about him, right? Not even Kyles’s mom would read this much about him.

You are on to something here. Alas, all that passion is instead poured down the drain over a career practice squad guy.

I think that really goes to the point Reignman was making. NFL execs aren't very good at evaluating QBs... and at the time, both Lynch and Osweiler looked a whole lot better than how they ended up. Osweiler did quite well filling in for the ghost of Peyton Manning if memory serves me right...

But back to Sloter. Those scrubs he beat up on were still significantly better than the college kids he beat up on. He got on to an NFL roster and performed. I'll say what I've said before. I don't know if he is a franchise QB or not, but I do know that he never got a chance to prove himself. He deserved a shot with the second team at least and had he outplayed Manion, he deserved a shot to be our backup QB...

At which point right now, we'd be getting a good look at him to see if he can replace KC in 2021 and that question would be answered.
